Nice talking..

Warning: Spoilers
A guy talking through the whole film to create the tense atmosphere but he becomes a bit unbearable. All mystery is solved at the very end with two pictures.

Funny but not in a good way!
omendata13 March 2020
I always review a film based on budget etc and to be fair for £500 this was very well made in terms of camerawork and professionalism; the fact that it is filmed in Ireland is very impressive when i watched it as it does come across as USA or Canada and the main actor does a good job of the yank accent but it should have been a 30 min short as nothing much happens, its not scary and it becomes quite funny towards the end when the main character starts freaking out and someone starts to shine two red torches in the bushes - I think i began to lose it when he tries to light a fire with a twig and laments not bringing a box of matches.

So to be fair it could have been better as a short but as a feature length film its far too long and just about a guy wandering in the woods and a bit of a terrible outdoorsman to boot - me and the boys have done better survival training up the local woods.

Terrible

Warning: Spoilers
I made an account just to write this review... how it had a 6.0 when I viewed it, I will never know.

It's basically a low quality, self shot youtube survival "show" by a guy who is terrible at it... and them scary things start happening while he runs around lost in the forest.

I guess for a 500$ budget it was OK, but I wish I read an honest review like mine and saved myself almost 2 hours of wasted time.

Couldn't turn it off!

I started watching it and knew what I was in for. Got about 20 minutes in and then I had to keep watching because I've never wanted a character to be killed as much as I wanted this guy to. " I don't want my clothes to get saturated" Was a line about hiking in the rain! This movie reeked.

One guy and his video camera
Leofwine_draca11 March 2017
Warning: Spoilers
TERRITORIAL BEHAVIOUR is a simple found footage-style horror film in the style of THE BLAIR WITCH PROJECT in that the terrors are all unseen and of the psychological variety. The film is in essence the video diary of a sole hunter as he ventures into the Montana woods and soon finds himself assailed by both vengeful hunters and a supernatural force.

First things first: it turns out that this is an Irish production, and I had no idea until checking online. It's completely convincing as an American film, the Irish woods stand in well for Montana, and Ronan Murphy nails his accent perfectly. In terms of authenticity this gets a ten out of ten.

Otherwise, it's rather sluggish and really suffers from a lack of incident; there's only so much of one guy talking into a camera that a viewer can take. It's lucky that the landscapes are picturesque. There is some atmosphere built up along the way but the ending is too abrupt and there's no real sense of menace, either; things never get nasty enough for this viewer.

Unbelievably, impressively bad
ezragarrison6 April 2020
The main character might be the worst actor I've ever seen, just marginally worse than whoever is playing his girlfriend on the phone. The way he delivers lines is so unnatural that one would think he would've had to TRY to be so awkward. Regarding his spoken lines, he sounds like he needs speech therapy, constantly stumbling over words and pronunciations, gargling the words more than speaking them. He clearly went out with cameras intent on his idea that he was going to act rather than just be natural. Even if you can deal with this awful speech and delivery for more than 15 minutes, there really isn't anything else to stick around for. The writing is absurd, the execution is abysmal and the acting is beyond poor. This one isn't worth struggling through.

Terrible movie. Terrible acting.
zamboni-366331 August 2022
I've watched a few survival FF movies with a horror element and I've enjoyed them. But, this one is just plain awful. The main guy can't act. The plot is plodding and goes nowhere. I stuck with it. Don't make the same mistake I did.

Terrible Behavior
tmccull5221 May 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Let's give credit where credit is due; this isn't the worst Bigfoot/survival movie that I've ever seen, particularly considering that the total budget was around $500. The setting was pretty decent.

Unfortunately, that about all of the credit that I can give. The acting is terrible, and it's very evident that we have a foreign actor trying to sound like an American... or what he thinks that an American might say. The dialogue is laughably bad, and no one talks the way that the lead character does in this movie. Every line is either stiff and wooden, or poorly over-emotes.

Our "hero" never seems to be at a lack of battery power for his cell phone, or his camera, despite carrying minimal gear. At one point, he says that he is carrying a portable battery pack/solar charger, but even the best of those wouldn't supply the power for both his phone and his camera, not as much as he uses both devices. I have several of these devices, and while they work, they charge up very slowly even under optimal conditions.

Then there's the fact that his cell phone never fails or never loses service despite him being lost in hundreds of thousands of acres of remote wilderness. He isn't using a satellite phone, and he's nowhere near any cell towers, but his phone works every single time that he tries to use it.

He brings no food with him on his wilderness sojourn, but he never shows any signs of hunger, fatigue, or any other signs of not having eaten for days. He chews on a single blade of grass. That's it. He shows no signs of cramping, fatigue, or weakness that might ordinarily mark his body feeding off of itself.

Our hero is supposed to be an expert in wilderness survival, but proves incapable of following his own advice. When his girlfriend expresses her concern for his welfare, he acts like a spoiled, petulant child and chastised her. He ends up sounding like a snotty eight year old brat having a conniption fit. He ends up being utterly unlikable and completely lacking in charisma, and by the end of the movie, I was rooting for the mysterious creature to kill him.

Good film...terrible survival guide
Spike_the_Cactus5 January 2020
This is one of the best FF films I've seen, and I've seen a lot.

The main character is filming a survival guide documentary in the Montana forests, and it starts off bright and cheerful. The lead is great as Bailey Rhodes. He seems like a well-rounded character; a bit cocky, nerdy, and almost childishly innocent. This is especially true when he first encounters hostility.

I think it's intentionally funny having him slowly contradicting his own advice, and his refusal to acknowledge that he's lost. Instead he's merely momentarily 'disoriented'.

As the film progresses the story becomes increasingly more unnerving, especially as the protagonist is likeable. There's a brilliant practical effect near the end that left an impression on me. Due to some stunning shots and the overall atmosphere of the setting, this is a film I'd watch again.

Potential
amyrehberg18 August 2019
I tend to enjoy the lower budget bad horror movies. This one had potential but there was something with the audio in a lot of parts and it was just disappointing in the end.

I like it.
napolisquared21 February 2022
I get it. It's not 'good' acting. Nobody talks like that on the phone. The sound design is... sub-par.

But, I like this movie a lot. I guarantee you waste a lot of your time anyway. Give it 15 minutes and if you don't crack a smile, turn it off.

But in this world, there are so many people that don't do anything with their life anyway, I give credit to anyone who starts and finishes a project.

This movie is better made than any of the Les Stroud/Stacy Brown, Jr. Movies (f.e. The Pit).

15 mins, turn it off, but it deserves at least 4 stars, if only just because it is a finished project.

Good for What it Was
hellsing21823 May 2023
Warning: Spoilers
This was certainly no Blair Witch Project, but for what I am assuming was a small budget, I'd did pretty well. It's kind of refreshing to not see a character who knows everything they claim to to survive in the wild, but someone who eventually admits he has no idea what he's doing. The monster is barebones, never actually seeing it beyond some blurred pictures and some LED red lights being flashed in the dark. I give them credit for not simply putting in a crappy CGI effect, even if this isn't much better. The acting was okay, but the characters emotions seemed to do 360's in an instant. Bottom line, it's fine to kill time but nothing to write home about.
