Great job kimo
farandgml12 April 2024
I know this movie Made by kimo stamboel or kimo stambol? I don't know, i love he's movie, but im really confused with this movie. Are even this is a horror movie? Or drama? Or comedy movie? Something i love horror movie buat maybe this is the worst. Is just about a cursed village. For me it just did'nt make sense, if you are easy to scare but you want to try to watch one horror movie this is the perfect movie for you, BECAUSE THIS MOVIE IS NOT SCARY. I know maybe scary for some another people, but hey we are Indonesian duh.. we already get used with horror movie because Indonesian only can make horror and drama movie lol. But the point, is if you are easy to scare and you want to try to watch horror movie this movie is perfect for you (Spoiler alert but not really spoiler:)

Literally i was just shocked when i was shown a dead monkey covered with blood, bruh🗿

Second act is commendable for its chilling and eerie horror
sherqaniisa12 April 2024
Mila and her group of cousins are determined to uncover the truth behind her mother's mysterious illness. Their quest leads them to the enigmatic Dancing Village (Desa Penari), where they unravel a series of secrets, piece by piece, including the existence of the dreaded entity known as Badarawuhi.

The film unfolds as a slow-burn horror, with the second half proving more compelling than the first. While some scenes may feel repetitive, reminiscent of "KKN di Desa Penari," the focus is primarily on the gradual revelation of secrets between Badarawuhi and the village.

Although the second act is commendable for its chilling and eerie horror, certain parts of the movie may drag, yet they are integral to the plot's development. Despite the predominantly visual storytelling, viewers may still find themselves questioning certain aspects of the film.

The technical prowess of the film, particularly in editing and transitioning between scenes, deserves appreciation for its clean execution. The eerie atmosphere effectively complements the movie's theme.

While "KKN di Desa Penari" may be preferred for its realism and tragic elements, some viewers may feel a stronger connection to the characters and their personal development. The lack of a direct link between the two films, despite being a prequel, may leave some audiences wanting more coherence.

Nevertheless, "Badarawuhi Di Desa Penari" offers an engaging weekend watch, particularly for horror enthusiasts.

Dancing Village: Indonesian Folk Horror
babyjaguar28 April 2024
This 2024 film "Dancing Village: The Curse Begins (Badarawuhi di Desa Penari)" directed by Kimo Stamboel explores Indonesian supernatural beliefs. It's a slow burn but really tries to implode human emotions through despair and dancing.

It's story originality based on dance traditions with life/death deities and sorcery. The actors really deliver strong performances of young people trying to rationalize logic to what is a curse. It follows a 2022 KKN di Desa Penari" film, some similar ideas sourced in folklore.

The story focuses on two young women (Rathil and Mila) with mothers in terrible state of physical and mental illness. They aren't understanding what's happening, they dealing with the supernatural, things can't be undone.

The film enters through their struggling between earthy and spiritual realms. A realm controlled by a supernatural tormenter and soul taker: Badarawuhi which played beautifully by Aulia Sarah.

In some ways, it reminds one of the 1977 (and 2018 remake) film Suspiria. Modern ballet ancing on those films play with witchcraft and self-destruction, centered on women.

In this case solely based on Indonesian folk dancing, it's surreal scenes are of interest. There's no excessive gore scenes nor jump scares but still deliver a creepy vibe.

The scenes of dancing and sorcery are done well, as the beautiful dance moves become acts of evil. Again, it's slow but delivers toward the story ending. It also marks that Indonesian horror genre can be smart and elusive.

Past 80s/90s Indonesian horror unfortunately has been seen as campy, championed by a mostly cult film audiences. Although the recent reboot of "VHS" found footage enlisted Indonesian director and actors within the horror genre.

This particular film will definitely challenges old tropes on South Asian horror genre. Film's cinematography is excellent and inviting. Mostly set in rural landscapes and sound effects are superb.

Fascinating,but need more punch
zaennuriluthfi17 April 2024
A group of teenager visit to remote village, desperately need help to recover their mother from mysterious disease, but they never know the danger and threat await.

Ok, then. The village folklore is going on, and I knew it from the start that this movie is not meant to be so fearsome, like have a bunch of jumspcare and terror, because this movie is just showing and approaching to realistically enough exactly in threads or real life. Even though I hoping more dreadful story to adapt in the movie, and this story was, sorry to say isn't intens enough for me, because it's not about a ghost or monsters, it's about my sympathy for the victim, and yes this movie is not so horror, but more like drama or folklore and urban legend. And I belive so many of those poor viewer got disappointed from promising horror genre.

The aesthetic view of nature, village and the mountain, absolutely eye catching and stunning. Not to mention the big name producers handle the cinematography so well done, covers up the lack of the horror action, and yeah thats all I get, such the scary side of the dense forest in the beauty of the scenery, thats it and nothing more. For me it's just okay, but need more punch. Yet this still better story to adapt for me, and all those spectacular actors they were absolutely killing it. Once again a better quality, advance from many years before.

The Story of Badaruwuhi is begin
triahmadafandi30 April 2024
This film was made by Director Kimo Stamboel. This film is another version of KKN Universe. Story telling about what happened in the village for a long time ago. Tells more clearly about Badarawuhi and what actually happened in the dancing village before. This film will also tell the story of a girl named Mila. We can enjoy watching Mila and her friends make their journey in the dancing village. There are many new things and secrets that will be explored in this film. A very tense film and we will be taken to enjoy every incident after incident that we never thought about before. A very cool film and highly recommended for people in Indonesia to watch, how culture and customs are always passed down from time to time. There are many lessons that can be learned from this film.

THIS MOVIE ABSOLUTELY NEED AN IMPROVEMENT
vincentchandra-5716721 April 2024
Warning: Spoilers
The plot is okay, but this movie says "Badarawuhi di Desa Penari". Where's the story of Badarawuhi herself? It has to explain and show the story and the origin of "Badarawuhi" as the title said. But in this movie most of the scene are dominated by the two "Badarawuhi" victims called Mila and Ratih. And also tells how Mila break her curse which is Badarawuhi curse.

For me this movie absolutely need an improvement. If this movie needs an improvement, they have to think about the revision of the title due to the plot. IMO the title should be named "Misteri di Desa Penari" or "Kutukan di Desa Penari" similar to the english title "The Dancing Village : The Curse Begins"

THE NEXT LEVEL OF KKN UNIVERSE
kmahardhika20 April 2024
The story revolves around Badarawuhi and the Dancer Village here is a little different from the previous one. Here it is explained that there are twin shawls complete with urban legend stories, as if this village holds a mystery that has not been revealed.

Although they both tell stories about a number of young people who finished their business and had to go to the Penari Village. The premise of the film Badarawuhi does look similar to KKN in Penari Village. However, these two films come in neater and new versions. Because Badarawuhi focuses on one entity, even though the hints that appear are not much different from the previous film.

So Beautiful but scary also
nenelzoom18 April 2024
Main character was so Beautiful but so cruel also, the story line was very detail in this prequel. Makes the audience more familiar with its origins. The timeline is different from the Dancer Village KKN. This time it is set in the 1980s. Where a dancer outwits Badarawuhi, making Nyai very angry.

With different actors and characters from the sequel, this film is fresh and interesting, although some scenes are somewhat similar to the sequel, they don't make you bored and are still fun to watch even with a duration of 122 minutes. At first glance it looks like a repetition but is described in more detail. Moreover, it is supported by the acting of the players, all of whom are good and really get into their characters. A little funny touch from Iqbal Sulaiman creates an ice breaker amidst the horrors of the Badarawuhi terror.

Some of the jumscares are quite surprising. Not only does it show many tense scenes. The emotional drama between mother and child was very touching

Be careful if you have a phobia of snakes, prepare yourself mentally to watch this film.

I think this is the best movie I've ever watched, from start to finish the atmosphere of the movie makes us enter into the world of badarawuhi, and this movie is also an improvement that deserves thumbs up, where Kimo Stamboel as a director managed to execute this movie quite well.

This movie is also very interesting to watch, especially for cinematography, this movie is far above the Movie KKN : Di Desa Penari, because indeed this movie sells in cinematography, especially the cool scene transitions.

Even though this movie doesn't sell jumpscared at all, it still manages to present Kimo Stamboel's mystical horror movie spectacle, which is a horror spectacle that is not complicated and pleasant to follow until the end.

amazing movie
vdafdl10 May 2024
It's a great movie. Great film. Tells about badarawuhi who is looking for a replacement or next dawuh. The cast's expressions are very soulful, especially Ratih's character. I like it. Great great-grandmother's character. A good atmospheric background makes the film very amazing. Good movie. Interesting film. In my opinion, Mila's character is less prominent here. The director seems to be showing that Mila's character is devoted to her mother and willing to make sacrifices for her mother. However, at the beginning, Mila becomes a character who is self-righteous and pretentious. Even so, Mila carries out her character very well. In terms of make-up, it is also neat and amazing.

A Great Movie
anurhaliza12 May 2024
Prequel to the film KKN in the village of dancers, in terms of script and plot, it is well prepared compared to the previous film, the setting is still identical to the yellow river bridge in Kaliurang

From the first second, the film is already tense and gives you goosebumps with the gamelan and special musical accompaniment. Moreover, musical scenes are shown many times. The dancing scene is also 5 stars. Gives you goosebumps and reminds you of Seblang Olehsari. Unfortunately there's only one, there should be a little foreign language inserted to feel the aura

There are lots of cool shots throughout the film. Accompanied by scoring that is no less neat, our eyes and ears can be quite pampered.

Warning: Spoilers
In the first place i will not say this movie is prequel of the kkn di desa penari, i actually like the cinematography, the set of the place and another aspect. Good job for the director and team for doing a great job. Animation of the snake is more fluid and "alive" than the kkn di desa penari movie. To be honest i love the sound in this movie, the transition between scene to another scene is good but sometime it hurt my eye because impromptu transition between night and day. One thing in this movie was, if you haven't watched the KKN di desa penari movie you still can catch up the storyline of this movie. One last question about this movie director is who actually is badarawuhi ?

amazing, good
sausansyahirahhh10 May 2024
This film so amazing because it tells the story of a dancer who has a lineage and makes them return to the village of dancers and ultimately their descendants follow the traditions in that village. Good plot, not complicated and easy to understand with few jump scares. This work is very good, it shows that if we want to get something we have to make sacrifices and we can make sacrifices for the people we love. This story is packaged in a film whose duration is very short but everything from the opening, content, conflict and so on is all there. They must try to watch the film because this is recommended.
