Insulting, pathetic, and unbelievably lame
marisaalmor28 May 2024
From the moment that not a single person has the appropriate accent because no one is from the region, it lacks authenticity. It trivializes a very serious political issue, "caciquismo", which makes the lives of many people quite uncomfortable. No one remotely close to the rural life it supposedly depicts will find it bearable. The stereotypes it portrays are not only flat and dated, but unrealistic and upsetting. Corruption is the real issue and it is hardly hinted at.

I feel bad for the good actors that got involved in this production. The female lead does a fabulous job, but that might be the only saving grace of this movie. In the end, it's a movie about Teruel made by people from Madrid, in typical imperialist fashion.

Reconciliation with the rural world
croslip27 April 2024
In the current times of polarity, this film is at least conciliatory; On the one hand, it shows a reality almost copied from inland and rural Spain, "empty", that is, devoid of population, an unconditional requirement to maintain a town and its coexistence. On the other hand, we have the figure of a young man from a political party (unidentified) called "progressive" in the government, who is sent to a town in Aragonese lands to change the situation; The urban idealization that he has of things clashes with the traditions and customs of the locals. The white humor, a soft political point of view, without interpretations to highlight, allows in any case to have an entertaining time with some funny scenes. Conciliatory with the rural world.
