This is the best video yet from this director as he keeps going from strength to strength. The Animal Cage is about a crazed fan who kidnaps members of the band Animal one by one and locks them up in a starkly lit room. Dark graffiti jumps out at you from the walls and the camera roves around and around the struggling tethered trio. The music works with the video in the best black comedy/ silent movie tradition , conjuring up our collective memories of the laughing villain, with his moustache bristling in anticipation of the gory events ahead. The video cleverly moves between scenes of the band playing and the villain dipping in and out of view terrorising and teasing them before cutting off two of his own fingers with a chisel, spattering blood everywhere.
