A cult is operating in the area, The Church of Apollo. Run by a powerful and charismatic man, Kalon, Susie is mesmerised by him, jealousy among the cult leads to murder.
I've always appreciated the talents of Michael Maloney, he's a very fine actor, it's good to see him playing a crank, very theatrically, he's normally so straight laced, he's great. I very much enjoyed his screen time with Father Brown.
Very different in tone from previous episodes, Father Brown faces a moral problem, how can he protect his flock from a powerfully charismatic charlatan? It's a wonderfully intriguing mystery, very clever, well paced, the art of story telling on this particular episode is top notch. 8/10
