One of DP's worst rom-coms
lor_9 May 2017
With her name (trademarked of course by the label) embedded in the title, Riley Steele is ill-served by Digital Playground's assembly-line rom-com "For Rent", even worse than usual for hack director Robby D. This feature positively screams "who cares?" from behind the camera.

Manuel Ferrara is at a loss how to kill time in the non-sex scenes, portraying a rich creep who has a palatial mansion to himself after the rest of his family has moved away. He seems especially perturbed at the absence of his sister Louisa (a character who never shows up on screen) so his creepy buddy Erik Everhard encourages him to rent out her room for company. The poorly structured all-sex feature (plus insipid "set- up" scenes) posits him hardly at a loss for company in the presence of serial layabouts who come over to eat or drink, but mainly to hump girls, posing as Manuel, for the duration.

Robby takes a writing credit for this utter crap, as the gonzo specialist evidently has no shame: once the corrupt Adult industry bestows "award-winning" on a hack said hack's head inevitably swells.

So a parade of "college girls from down the block" ring the doorbell and one of the cast's studs services each one, pretending to be offering favors regarding the room to let. Manuel, slow-witted as can be (and benefiting from continuity errors which have him exiting scenes for no reason other than to permit Robby the next XXX camera set-up) finally figures out what his buddies are up to, and gets the girl, namely Riley, who had previously humped Everhard under false pretenses.

Barely a saving grace is that the mansion with room for rent is in fact Adult's greatest location, the Sweet Sinner "Immoral Proposal" mansion (oval-paned doors & striking spiral staircase) where Evan Stone memorably bedded April O'Neil the same year this junker was shot. Other than that it is a Chatsworth project featuring briefly visiting Brit Porn superstars Emily B and Lou Lou, Emily sticking around the West Coast to co-star in another Robby D. stinker titled "Blind Date". Neither these sexy lasses from Blighty nor Riley steal the spotlight - instead it is fresh and wonderful Allie James who perhaps makes "For Rent" marginally worth suffering through.
