VeggieTales meets The Avengers!!!

Warning: Spoilers
I never heard of The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen before this. I just thought VeggieTales' Mike Nawrocki and Mark Steele made their own 1/3-length Avengers film in 2011 to not coincide with the real hype for The Avengers - without actually trying to compete with it. That being said, I really loved this story because other VeggieTales veggies got to be superheroes with Larry, including Bob himself. He was Red Wonder/Bobbin before, but now he is something better - ThingamaBob! I thought it was the coolest VeggieTales story ever, that Archibald gathered together an Avengers-like team of superheroes for LarryBoy. It was kind of like OK KO Let's Be Heroes before it was cool. Petunia is Vogue, Mr. Lunt is S-Cape (escape), and Lisa Junior is the league's newest member - Ricochet! Not to be confused with that other Ricochet from Mucha Lucha. This isn't Where's God When I'm S-Scared all over again, but it had a much better story and message about handling fear, as did Celery Night Fever for forgiveness next to God Wants Me To Forgive Them. I think it is good that the actors who voiced Arvin Flurry and LarryBoy wrote this together, because that means we have a good balance of writers to show the villain's perspective and the hero's perspective in the story.

The thing I hated most about The Fib From Outer Space and The Rumor Weed is - LarryBoy hardly got to do anything. It was a scary story where he got his root beaten to teach Junior a scary lesson about telling truths and spreading nice words. Those stories sadly never needed him quite as much as The Bad Apple and The Flurry of Fear did. No wonder Junior was afraid of everything! I know he felt awful about endangering LarryBoy a third time. Luckily, Alfred sung a song to Junior about trusting in God to help you overcome your fears, and it helped Ricochet overpower the Fear-Dar. I think the best part of The League of Incredible Vegetables (other than Junior's Pull-Ups joke, tee-hee) is that we finally have a LarryBoy story that wasn't too serious to have a Silly Song With Larry(Boy) in it! I always wondered what a Silly Song by LarryBoy instead of Larry would be like. Before they met Junior, the Veggie Avengers were visited by Jimmy, a Supper Hero who eats the food they don't want, super fast. The only disappointment that I have for The League of Incredible Vegetables is that Phil Vischer never wrote a ThingamaBob spin-off where Pa Grape was Bob's butler. We never saw him in any other LarryBoy film!

That being said, I think The League of Incredible Vegetables is VeggieTales' greatest film yet because...well, I just have a soft spot for the Tales where the veggies play themselves (like in God Wants Me To Forgive Them and Madame Blueberry), it is cool to see our 4 lead characters, Larry, Bob, Junior and Petunia, all be superheroes together (+Mr. Lunt). I always hoped Lisa Vischer would write a VeggieTale of her own, since Mike Nawrocki and Phil Vischer have done so many already. It would be interesting to see how Junior's life has changed since he became Ricochet. Maybe his closest friend, Laura, is the only one who can recognize him through the Ricochet costume. The Supper Hero Silly Song is exactly what The Avengers was missing. The League of Incredible Vegetables is better also because it did not take 29 minutes to get 5 heroes together, like The Avengers did. Only 6 minutes! So The Avengers could have introduced everybody in just 18 minutes. I think Big Idea could do much better with The League of Incredible Vegetables if they made more tales that got to focus on the other 4 superheroes to develop them, teach them an important biblical lesson that helps them be a better superhero, and figure out how to prevent let Lisa Vischer from stealing the story time and character focus from everyone else. It was already a problem in The Fib From Outer Space and The Rumor Weed, before Junior was a superhero. We have an entire ensemble of five heroes to cover! I would pay Big Idea millions of dollars to make The League of Incredible Vegetables: A VeggieTales Movie if I was that rich.
