WrestleMania XL : The End and Beginning of Era's
rxckne8 April 2024
Warning: Spoilers
After the bar was set very high last year in Hollywood, WrestleMania 40 was the perfect end of an era, and start of a new one in WWE. The return of Roman Reigns in 2020 started something special in the WWE, and tonight the ultimate climax of it all came about. There were moments that will never be forgotten in the history of wrestling, and this Mania served as a great celebration for one of the best modern day rivalry's in WWE as well as a reunion of some old, and current legends.

WrestleMania Saturday

Women's World Championship Match (C) Rhea Ripley vs Becky Lynch - (4/5)
  • Rhea and Becky put on a show and further solidified Rhea's dominance as champion, while continued Becky's solid run with her great performance.

6 Pack Tag Title Ladder Match - (4.25/5)
  • For any fans of wrestling old or new, this was a fun match that served as a great way for everyone to showcase their talent, while also putting over two teams that deserved to shine.

Rey Mysterio & Andrade vs Dominik Mysterio & Santos Escobar - (3/5)
  • While this match had a random ending with the Jason Kelce & Lane Johnson interference, this was still a fun match that let Andrade and Escobar get a nice WM moment, and further extend Rey and Dominik's great feud.

Jimmy Uso vs Jey Uso - (2.25/5)
  • This match was the the only WM40 disappointment for me, as I expected a much better buildup then a simple YEET and NO YEET competition. And in the ring it was about the same. A City of Brotherly Love Street Fight stipulation I think would've done wonders for this match, and I'm not sure why that wasn't the move. While I liked the Jimmy surrendering spot, it could've had greater potential if this was fleshed out more considering the power and depth this brotherly rivalry had.

6 Woman Tag Match - (3/5)
  • This match served as a great way for both teams to showcase their talents and give Jade a great WrestleMania debut. Here's to hoping Asuka's losing streak ends next year though lol

Intercontinental Championship Match (C) Gunther vs Sami Zayn - (4.75/5)
  • This was the match of the night, and arguably the best match of WM40. Gunther dominating Zayn for the majority of the match showed that Sami didn't stand a chance, but Gunther's cockiness came at the cost of his reign. He underestimated Gable and got counted out. He underestimated The Miz and nearly lost. But with all of the background and buildup from Sami Zayn, there was no escape for Gunther. The brain buster spot was EXCELLENT, and the helluva kicks were the cherry on top. Well deserved moment for Sami Zayn, and I can't wait for Gable to get his moment to shine.

Main Event Roman Reigns & The Rock vs Cody Rhodes & Seth Rollins - (4.25/5)
  • This match completely exceeded my expectations. While this match wasn't a great pure wrestling spectacle, it didn't need to be. The slow build, the spots, and the chaos were all this match needed to shine. With the bending of the rules and the many false finishes, this match served up to its AMAZING buildup. If you told me this would go down as the 2nd longest main event in WM history I would've told you that you were crazy. But wow they pulled it off.

WrestleMania XL Night 1 Overall Score: 4.25/5

WrestleMania Sunday

(C) Seth Rollins vs Drew McIntyre w/ Damian Priest Cash In - (4/5)
  • Sundays opening match wasted little to no time and served as the great payoff to Seth's reign as champion, validating the WHC and giving Drew the first of his earned moments in front of a crowd (assuming another will come soon at CATC) but then we get a great plot twist. Drew goes at Punk, Punk retaliates, and Damian finally cashes in. For the 2nd time in WWE history, a cash in at WrestleMania occurred, and it was amazing. Even if it's not a long reign, props to Damian. Well deserved.

6 Man Philly Street Fight Bobby Lashley & The Street Profits vs The Final Testament - (3/5)
  • This Match was a fun roller coaster with some great spots from Angelo & Montez, and had a great surprise with Bubba Ray as the referee. Not much to say about this one, but it served its purpose.

LA Knight vs AJ Styles - (3.75/5)
  • This was a fun physical match between these two after a fantastic buildup, and while I wasn't looking forward to it after Elimination Chamber, the buildup was excellent and the match delivered. I wouldn't mind if this feud carried on until Backlash.

United States Championship Match (C) Logan Paul vs Kevin Owens vs Randy Orton - (3.75/5)
  • While I wish KO went over, I understand the decision made with this match. Not my favorite of the night, but was still a solid showcase from everyone.

WWE Women's Championship Match (C) Iyo Sky vs Bayley - (4.75/5)
  • In the WELL deserved co main event, Iyo and Bayley SHOWED OUT. This match was an amazing masterclass with many great false finishes, counters, and intense moments. After a great buildup and a fantastically executed match, Bayley got her deserving moment at Mania. Props to Iyo for her great reign, and here's to hoping she gets to shine again in the future.

Main Event for Undisputed WWE Universal Championship (C) Roman Reigns vs Cody Rhodes - (5/5)
  • When you look at memorable and fantastic WrestleMania main events, this is an instant classic that will go down as one of the greatest of all time. Wrestling ain't all about pure in ring ability, but Roman and Cody did a fantastic job of setting the stage for the first 20 or so minutes, then letting the chaos ensue. The returns of John Cena and The Undertaker were poetic. While Stone Cold would've been a fun return for The Rock's sake, this was Roman's match. And who were 2 of Roman's rivals? The man he beat at WrestleMania 33, and the man who verbally killed the big dog, and Solo Sikoa. The returns were perfect, and the final sequence with Seth Rollins and the chair was CINEMA.

In 2014, Seth was the cause of The Shield's end, by betraying Roman. In 2022, he re-opened this wound for Roman by entering their match with The Shield theme and gear and playing the mind games at the Royal Rumble. In 2023, Sami Zayn brought back that nightmare by betraying Roman, and permanently cracking his Bloodline at the Royal Rumble.

And finally in 2024, it all culminated into Roman choosing to not hit Cody, but instead take revenge on Rollins with the chair. And that moment caused the end of Roman's empire. Perfect ending to what I'd call the greatest reign of all time.

WrestleMania XL Night 2 Overall Score: (5/5)

Overall, phenomenal WrestleMania. Was every match perfect? Absolutely not. But most of them either served their purpose, exceeded expectations, or in many instances stole the show entirely. I don't like throwing out 5 star ratings often, but in a couple months / years I will likely look back on some of these matches I rated 4.75 and give them 5's because they were truly more than just instant classics. For WrestleMania's 40th anniversary, many iconic moments were created that will never be forgotten, and I'm glad to say I got to witness one of the greatest WrestleMania's of all time. Props to Roman for carrying the Era from the pandemic to now, and ultimately handing off, no, tossing UP the torch to Cody Rhodes. And kudos to Cody for being a phenomenal protagonist in this story, and here's to Cody leading this new era and the next generation.

The greatest story.
justfrankyb8 April 2024
The greatest night in WWE history. This is the start of the new era and I cannot wait for my kids to experience the attitude 2.0. This is unlike anything that has ever happened before. Both nights 10/10 and with HHH in charge there's a lot of room for optimism and I'm 100% on board. The ending shocked me as I did think the rock would turn Face but I couldn't have been more wrong and the only way they could keep him heel is if they did what they did. The emotion involved even with Seth returning to be a shield for his rival/team mate was just epic. The little things since the royal rumble have truly made wwe once again a story telling dream for its universe. Well Done. The story is finished yet it's just begun!

The Avengers Endgame of wrestling? SPOILERS BELOW
aymaantaha11 April 2024
Warning: Spoilers
WrestleMania 40, the grandest stage of them all, unfolded over two nights in Philadelphia's Lincoln Financial Field. With more than 69,000 fans in attendance, the event promised excitement, drama, and unforgettable moments.

As a seasoned WrestleMania attendee, this was my fifth time witnessing the spectacle in person. But this year was different-I had the privilege of sitting in a suite alongside passionate wrestling fans from the UK. Wrestletours, the brains behind the suite, ensured our comfort and camaraderie. And let me tell you, it was worth every penny.

The opening video montage, "Then, Now, Forever, Together," narrated by Triple H, set the tone. Catchphrases of top stars were omitted, but their iconic moments played out on screen. The arrivals were equally electrifying: Cody Rhodes, World Heavyweight Champion Seth "Freakin" Rollins, Undisputed WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns, and "The Final Boss" himself, The Rock.

Saturday's show kicked off with Grammy Award singer Coco Jones delivering a soul-stirring rendition of the Star-Spangled Banner. Then, Triple H, WWE's Chief Content Officer, welcomed us to WrestleMania. The anticipation was palpable.

1. Cody Rhodes vs Roman Reigns: The main event saw Cody Rhodes battling Roman Reigns. The crowd was split, torn between the two charismatic superstars. Their clash was intense, and the near falls had us on the edge of our seats. In the end, Reigns prevailed, but both men left it all in the ring.

2. The Rock, teaming up with a surprise partner, took on a formidable duo. His spine-tingling entrance sent shockwaves through the stadium. The Rock electrified the crowd, proving that he's still the People's Champion.

3. Women's Championship Matches The women's division shone brightly. Sasha Banks defended her title against a resilient challenger, while Becky Lynch and Bayley put on a clinic. These matches showcased the evolution of women's wrestling.

4. Tag Team Extravaganza The tag team division delivered. The Hardy Boyz returned for a nostalgia-filled encounter, and the high-flying action left us chanting "Delete!" long after the bell rang.

5. Undertaker's Farewell The Undertaker, in what he hinted might be his last match, faced a worthy adversary. The arena echoed with "Thank you, Taker!" as he walked up the ramp, leaving an indelible mark on WrestleMania history.

In the suite, I rubbed shoulders with fellow fans, some of whom were wrestlers themselves. WWE stars occupied neighboring suites, adding an air of excitement to the hallways. As I sipped my beer, I realized that WrestleMania isn't just about the matches-it's about the shared passion, the camaraderie, and the memories.

WrestleMania 40 was a rollercoaster of emotions. From heart-pounding action to tearful farewells, it encapsulated the essence of sports entertainment. As I reflect on my fifth WrestleMania experience, I can't help but wonder if next year will draw me back, no matter where it takes place. Because in that arena, surrounded by fellow fans, I'm reminded why I fell in love with pro wrestling in the first place.

Great Wrestling Storytelling
maxglen8 April 2024
Warning: Spoilers
I've been on and off wrestling for most of my life, I was briefly a fan as a kid during the Ruthless Aggression era and then again during the early 2010s. I decided to come back to wrestling after hearing things were on the up a few years ago. As such, I've been able to follow the entire Bloodline and Cody Rhodes narratives and I don't think it's much of a stretch to say they are the two best storylines we've had in professional wrestling and they both came to a glorious header in this very special event.

Night one was pretty good, Rhea and Becky was very enjoyable and I believe had the right outcome. I loved the 6 Pack Ladder Match for the tag belts, glad R-Truth has finally had his Wrestlemania moment after all these years. Rey Mysterio & Andrade v Santos Escobar and Dominik Mysterio was a fun match, although the ending didn't particularly land for me as I'm not an Eagles fan, though it makes sense seeing as Rey's outfit heavily integrated the Eagles iconography and logo. Jimmy vs Jey was disappointing. It would have been a fine enough match on say Monday Night Raw but was extremely underwhelming for a Wrestlemania spot. Bianca Belair, Jade Cargill and Naomi vs Damage CTRL was a lot of fun and allowed Jade to have a solid debut where she looked like a million bucks. Sami Zayn vs Gunther worried me as I firmly believed that Gunther would have and should have maintained up until the Bash at Berlin but I think the way they built up the match with Chad Gable and hearing Sami talk about his first wrestling match way back when in Philly, it made sense that it went down the way it did and it was a great match regardless of what you might think of the outcome. Last match of the night was of course the tag match between Cody Rhodes with Seth Rollins & The Rock with Roman Reigns. It began a little slowly but ramped up significantly toward its climax and set up night two in style.

Night two? That's where it's at. The whole vibe was just better, thanks in no small part to the improved Philadelphia crowd, who had been a little stagnant on night one. Seth Rollins v Drew McIntyre was a classic! Both had great intros and just when it looked like it was going to be a squash match, Seth got his head in the game and we got a real contest of champions. McIntyre finally got his Wrestlemania moment in front of an actual crowd and despite injury, so did CM Punk. Damian Priest then finally cashed in his Money in the Bank contract and stole the belt off a defeated McIntyre, great stuff. We then got the Philadelphia Street Fight Match, Bobby Lashley & the Street Prophets vs The Final Testament with Snoop Dogg on commentary who was actually very entertaining and ECW alumni Bubba Ray Dudley serving as the special guest referee. This was a very fun match that knew exactly what it was and gave us some good nostalgia for the ECW days hot off the heels of Paul Heyman's Hall of Fame induction. LA Knight vs AJ Styles was fun, I think it could have done with having a stipulation like hell in the cell or extreme rules to really pop but it got the job done and the crowd was having a blast with the "Yeah!" chants. Logan Paul vs Kevin Owens vs Randy Orton for the United States Championship was fun. All three are proven commodities at this point and had opportunities a plenty to show off. I don't know that much about iShowSpeed so his inclusion felt a little random to me but I'm out of the loop with things like social media, streaming and the sort so that's on me. Bayley vs Iyo Sky was REALLY good! The Damage CTRL narrative has been kind of hit or miss for me but it was worth it if it meant getting to this point. Finally seeing Bayley get her flowers at Wrestlemania and hearing the crazy pop she got was great. But it all pails in comparison to the insane main event of night two... Cody Rhodes vs Roman Reigns: Bloodline Rules. Both superstars got epic, goosebump inducing entrances that just told you this match was gonna be special and it doesn't disappoint! The opening half of the match is your standard mano a mano between Cody and Roman and it's electric, both men take full advantage of the Bloodline Rules stipulation, using weapons, tables and moving to the outside of the ring into the audience. There's some great trash talk from Roman too which did an effective job at filling the quieter moments of the match. The second half of this match is absolutely bats**t! It basically becomes Avengers Endgame with superstars and legends running out every few moments... Jey Uso spearing Jimmy off the ramp, John Cena giving the attitude adjustment to Roman and Solo, Seth coming out in his Shield gear, Undertaker appearing centre of the ring to get revenge on Roman for beating him at WM33 and showing The Rock who the REAL final boss is! It was nuts. But my favourite moment was when Roman was going to take out Cody with the chair but saw Seth in the corner of his eye and decided to get payback on him after Seth betrayed the Shield almost a decade ago, a decision which ultimately cost Roman the championship. Seth told Cody he would be his shield and he did exactly that. It was also beautiful to see Cody's family and the rest of the WWE universe get into the ring and celebrate alongside The American Nightmare as he fulfils his American Dream. A truly special two nights of wrestling that won't soon be forgotten.

9/10 Thank you for reading and stay safe!

Appears mostly fixed but totally worth it!
MuviFan738 April 2024
Warning: Spoilers
The men's matches that I think were fixed... Match involving twin USO's, Match for intercontinental championship (Gunther loses against Samy), Match involving bloodline (Saturday (Cody and Seth loses against Roman & Rock)), Match for world heavy weight championship (Seth loses to McIntyre).

Apart from that the ladder match for tag teams, the match involving mysterios, street fight match, Match where LA Night wins against AJ Styles went really well.

Among the above mentioned matches there was not a single match I did not like, except for Saturdays match involving bloodline.

The match I was most upset about was triple threat for US championship (paul vs Randy vs KO, Paul won).

Now comes the most epic match. The match involving the bloodline (Sunday). Guess what? They tried to cheat but failed. We got to see John Cena Undertaker in the making. It were all so cool and fantastic.

Wrestlemania 40 years in the making Review without spoilers
paudieconnolly9 April 2024
Opening up Night 1 with the man Becky lynch wearing an outfit sporting her new book upstaged by a freaky entrance of Rhea Ripley on a windy evening in Philadelphia which only added to her entrance. A very strong opening match setting the bar high for the night ahead.

A Bruising six man tag Ladder match With judgement day's tagteam titles both sets on the line with chaos all over the ring and in the sky and R truth bringing wrestling comedy in an old school way, an entertaining match Keeping the energy high following a high impact opening match.

Latino heat up next with Mysterio father and son again lining up against each other at wrestlemania this time in the form of a tagteam match. Lead to the ring with the ever expanding entourages. Plenty flight time in this one As you would expect.

The bloodline will be split next as for only the third time at wrestlemania brothers will do battle these brothers born only nine minutes apart jimmy and Jay usos The sons of Hall of Famer Rikishi Will follow in the footsteps of Brett and Owen hart Jeff and Matt Hardy To become the third set of brothers square off at Wrestlemania . In an underwhelming match amazing performers together and maybe Styles too close to each other make this one feel a bit flat.

Damage control face a team of three that look like they could do some damage Naomi Bianca Bel-Air and Jade Cargill Showing what a strong division this is right now The crowd are energised for this one.

The Ring general two years Intercontinental title reign Will be contested has he faces Sami Zayn, Sami will always put up a fight But Guenther so dominant for so long leaves the Stadium a bit flat with normal service expected Despite strong action in the ring it's not really transferred to the crowd.

Your main event of the evening the American nightmare Cody Rhodes the world champion Seth freakin Rollins team up against the final boss the rock Teaming with the tribal chief Roman Reigns with wisemen Paul Heyman in the corner I don't need to say nothing more about this one . If those names aren't enough to peak your interest in this main event you really don't smell what the rock is cooking.

Day 2

A good opening night two With the heavyweight title on the line Seth Rollins drew McIntyre Do you battle in a good match with twists and turns.

A fun Philadelphia Street fight for match two with appearances from Snoop Dogg On commentary and Buba ray Dudley wearing the black and white stripes as referee Better match than expected.

Sky and bayley have a good match For the title as the main event draws near

The words main event of the evening are not wasted on this one Cody Rhodes faces off against the tribal chief Roman Reigns with the wisemen Paul Heyman in his corner in a bloodline rules match following the prelude yesterday there is a huge build to this final match and build up lasting nearly 2 years could be hard to meet expectations but This is up there with the greatest of all time warrior Hogan ,Stone cold rock ,Hogan rock. This one also lives up to the billing and surpasses expectations and surely that's what the great main events do you have expectations and if you walk out saying wow That was more than I expected that's the main event done right as this one is . Overall the strongest wrestlemania in years Right across the card with the main event to match. 40 years in the making worth the wait.

Night 2 was extremely superior to Night 1
emmytea9 April 2024
Warning: Spoilers
WrestleMania Night 1 rating: 5/10

WrestleMania Night 2 rating: 9/10

Overall WrestleMania rating: 7/10

WM Night 1 Review: WrestleMania Night 1 was underwhelming and forgettable. There were very little moments and matches that I felt would be talked about in the future. This entire event felt like your average RAW or SmackDown. Nothing big or exciting to it. The crowd was dead as well. The biggest highlight on this show was Rhea vs Becky. Sami vs Gunther was also enjoyable. The Lil Wayne, Jason Kelce and Lane Johnson cameos were pretty cool. The biggest low was the USOS match hands down. It was the worst WrestleMania match I've seen in years. The main event started off weak too, but picked up near the end. Nothing on this show is worth going back to in my opinion.

WM Night 2 Review: WrestleMania Night 2 was a major improvement from the previous night. THIS felt like the WrestleMania we know and love. Night 2 starts off with a great opening match with Seth vs Drew, and a shocking moment following the match with Damien Priest cashing in. The main event was great and had a lot of drama. It involved returns of huge legends in the business. Cody dethroning Reigns is already an iconic WM moment. The biggest highlights were Seth vs Drew, Logan vs Owens vs Orton, Bayley vs Iyo Sky and Roman vs Cody. The biggest low for me wasn't even that much of a low, and it would be the street fight with The Pride and The Final Testament. I just was wasn't as into the story as the others. Night 2 had guest commentary from CM Punk and Snoop Dogg, guest refereeing from Bubba Ray Dudley, and a cameo from iShowSpeed. This night felt huge, and lived up to the hype of being the biggest WrestleMania of all time. The crowd was hot the entire night, as opposed to Night 1. Not to mention three MAJOR title changes in one night. This WrestleMania night is sure to be talked about for decades. Night 2 is one of my favourite WrestleManias ever, it's just a shame that Night 1 wasn't as good.

Overall thoughts: I get that having two nights at WrestleMania makes big money and makes room for more workers get a chance to perform at WrestleMania, but it really feels like they put all their time and effort into the second night while the first one was a second thought. The quality difference between both nights is extremely noticeable. I believe the reason for that may also be a cause of having the most important and biggest stories on the Night 2 and the lesser ones on Night 1. Night 1 only had Rhea vs Becky and the tag team match with Rock & Reigns vs Cody & Seth. Night 2 had Cody vs Seth, LA Knight vs AJ Styles, Orton vs Owens vs Logan, Becky vs Iyo Sky and Roman vs Cody. The card was more interesting and had more star-power. I think WWE is better off doing one night only, but we all know that's not going to happen with the amount of success they are having with two nights.
