Excited
hazangel-8991015 December 2023
So excited for this series. I am trying not to watch all 3 episodes at once but it's hard!! I wish the whole series had been released all at once.

So far it seems like it will be a good story. Love the characters so far. I am not familiar with any of the Reacher books. I just really enjoyed the first season. The password scene was so sweet. Did Reacher show some emotion?

The mix of flashbacks and present time is done well and the character development is good. Nothing negative to say about the first episode other than I wish it were longer.

I hope it doesn't turn out to be a team member gone rogue. If so Reacher will know how to deal with them!

The opening scene was fun even though it was part of the trailer.

Happy watching!!

Va Va Voom ! Reacher scales newer heights !
jijo-sonicforce16 December 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Wow, can this be a better start to the new season or what?!

The first episode opens with a thrilling, roller coaster ride with Reacher operating at the peak of his powers, right from the first ATM robbery scene.

Doesn't hold back any punches. There is no mindless violence, but instead we see a methodical approach to any mini operation which is written very smartly.

The plot broadly is about Reacher'ss old 110th unit, which is targetted for assassination and one by one they are being killed off. The screenplay adapted from the book is solid. The investigation and detective work done by Reacher and his team is impressive, along with the action sequences where the choreography was slick, brutal and effective.

The thrilling sequences were paced nicely with exchanges between Dixon, Reacher, Neagley and O'Donnell.

One particular hilarious sequence was when Neagley uses the alias of Sarah Connor while staying in a hotel, and when Langston (played by Robert Patrick who also played Terminator) is asked who is Sarah Connor, he says "I don't care !?" which was really funny considering Robert played once played Terminator in the movies.

Watched the first three episodes, and with each episode the tension mounts with plenty of intelligent twists and turns.

And Alan Ritchson, hats off to you, sir. You were the Reacher that Lee Child probably imagined when he wrote the books! Amazing.

Ep. 1-3 not very well done, Ep. 4 seems better
mathomas-2805317 December 2023
The first season was very good, but they seem to have "cheaped out" on this second season, at least so far. Everything that makes the books good was in the first season, but ALL of that seems to have been dropped at the beginning of season 2.

This second season starts off like a comic book version of Reacher, a pale ghost of its former self. Lacks his subtlety. The jokes are bad. Everybody's chanting "You don't mess with the special investigators." The cleverness of Reacher's deduction skills has been reduced to successfully finding the bathroom. It takes really smart writers to write really smart mysteries. The dialog seems cheesy. The special investigators are disappointing.

I don't know who's writing or directing this (different people for every episode), but they are in some danger of ruining the franchise, and getting cancelled. What a shame that would be, when there are 20+ books to go!

Episode 4 seems to have recovered some of the style and substance of season 1, and of the books. Let's hope it continues upwards from here. I'd love to watch good Reacher for years to come! Please don't let me down!

An hour of awesome
MiloSuperSpesh15 December 2023
Reacher is back !

Keeps the winning formula from s1, sass, action, reacher laying the smack down and the backstory of the 110th is well paced not to heavy or long.

Reacher fans who watched the trailers will recognise the opening moments but it's still great to see it explained more.

The new cast works well as they are introduced, direction / audio / music all well chosen and fit the scenes.

This first episode packs a lot in to the hour of run time and it feels longer but is very enjoyable.

A good start to the season.

With out spoilers they have also managed to equal and maybe even topped the prison cell scene.

Why are you still reading this ? Go watch !

Good fun.
kenbo-8736012 January 2024
The books are a very easy read, the TV show follows the same formula. That's good enough for me.

I wasn't really a fan of this book so I was disappointed when I found out season two was based on it. I'm seven episodes in now with the finale next week. I'm obviously enjoying it because I'm disappointed when the episode finishes and we have to wait another week for the next one. How archaic is that!? Let us have them all in one go next time.

Alan Ritchson is really growing into the role. I'm sure he's even bigger this season. I do prefer Reacher as a lone wolf, getting to know people along his way and running into trouble at each destination. I suppose this storyline gave them a chance to tell a backstory of his army life instead of his childhood like season one.

Most fans of the book are going to enjoy it for what it is, easy viewing. I'm surprised to see some fans aren't happy with the adaptation. You pretty much get what it says on the tin. It isn't English Literature brought to the silver screen.

Back with a Flourish
Hitchcoc20 December 2023
We are reintroduced to Reacher after a hiatus. In the first five minutes he discovers a woman being extorted by a bad guy who is holding her son hostage. He destroys the guy and walks away, leaving the victim all she needs for the police. But the big thing is the death of a dear friend and former special operations guy. Also, finding contact with his team seems nearly impossible. We spend most of the first episode going from place to place with him and woman who is also part of the team. He uses methods of deduction when he spots anything which makes everything more cerebral. He knows that no matter what he does, he is in the left leaning camp. Nice segue into Season 2.

People here are being dumb
evanworden3 January 2024
It was solid. People writing here saying "this isn't Reacher" or written by a child clearly don't realize this was written by the only person who can write reacher. Its literally the most "Reacher" it could possibly be. The man who created the character and wrote every Reacher novel wrote this. It actually could not be a more Reacher if it tried. People who are annoyed that it didn't out do the first season with major fight scenes do t really y restart the material. This isn't and action thriller. Reacher isn't a machine gun toting super soldier. He's a special investigator who has military training and can kick some ass if he needs to. This episode did not let me down.

A lot of trippin in these reviews.
theomniman-5962229 December 2023
Look Herr folks this show is lit. Idc what anyone here has to say that has given it below an 8. Every line of dialog out of reachers mouth is great. He kicks all the ass their is. His team is very likeable and definitely adds to the show. So far all 5 episodes have been very good so I'm just sitting here pooping trying to figure out where all the negativity is coming from. Trust me if yall don't like the show you can turn it off and go watch lifetime or play fortnite or whatever little they thems do these days. Learn to like good TV or one day it will all be off the air due to people like yall. Peace!

Season 2
matt_jacobs14 January 2024
A great first episode. Reacher is back with a bang...or so I thought.

I haven't read them myself, but from reading the other reviews, I'm assuming season 2 remains loyal to the books, which is great. However, for a TV series, I felt that season 2 is just too soon to introduce Reacher's team. I really wanted another season of just the big, bad, lone wolf. They still could've incorporated flashback's, but the series so far is heavily focused on Reacher's team, which I feel takes away a lot of potential character development.

I'm hoping the next few episodes focuses more on just Reacher, but the way episode 5 finished, I don't expect it will.

A lukewarm opening
puzgolac6 January 2024
Warning: Spoilers
This wasn't terrible, but it most definitely wasn't great. The story in this opening episode is kind of OK, but so far it didn't really hook me. I didn't really feel suspense nor tension. I also didn't feel the supposed connection between the members of the 110th. They speak as if there is a strong bond between them, but so far it feels like just empty words. Maybe it will feel more real as we get more of their backstory. We'll see how it goes from here, but I really wished that this first episode got the heat up more than just lukewarm.

It is still cool to see Reacher kicking butt, but there were also a few dumb moments. Then again, that was also the case in many episodes of season 1.

Reacher is not only a Hulk on steroids, he is also a Sherlock Holmes on steroids, able to deduce everything from minuscule information and in a fraction of a second. Then Neagly does the same thing, just so that nobody would be offended.

The unnecessary and meaningless fake suspense in the post office brought back the memories of searching psycho redneck's truck from season 1. Not good.

The mysterious AM bad guy has so far not been convincing, looking more like a try hard than a scary villain. And why would he kill the guys who made him the fake documents? Wouldn't that hurt his business long term? There can't be too many people who can make perfect fake documents, and if you go killing them every time you do business with one of them, pretty soon there would be nobody left, or at least nobody who would want to work with you. Speaking of killing, how did he manage to kill a guy by stabbing him in the stomach with the blade the size of a paperclip?

By the way, Alan Ritchson didn't look good. Neagly says that he looks "road worn", but to me he looked tired, bloated in the face (probably from gaining so much weight for the role) and like he is one PED dose from a heart atack.

JUST KEEPS GETTING BETTER!!!
Erin5026613 January 2024
This is Reacher the way it was meant to be seen on the screen! Long awaited second season is here; I'm watching it all today and so thrilled! It is great to see Serinda Swan, Domenick Lombardozzi, and Robert Patrick, et al, joining the cast this season! The two books this season is based on are two of my favorites. If the rest of the episodes are as compelling as this one, I think it will be even better than the first season and hopefully we'll continue a very long run, hopefully through all of the books. Keeping true to the spirit of the books is very important to me when using copyrighted material as fodder for the screen. I just despise when copyrighted material is trashed just so a director or producer can use it to make their own vision- they should write their own material then! So far though this series has been so much better than any of the movies produced from Lee Child's books.

Meh

Warning: Spoilers
Step down from season 1 so far. They spoon feed all the backstory and information. The most lazy thing the writers can do is make the character explain every single thing that is happening, and that's exactly what we have here. Not to mention that the dialogue is cheesy and stale at times. Reacher fighting military officers on purpose as a team building exercise? Beating up drug dealers to get a gun? The added drama during the checking the post office boxes scene is ridiculous. I know there is a lot to balance when creating a show with this kind of a hero, but it all just feels like low hanging fruit. Far cry from what I loved about the last season.

After Season 1 very Poor
launaguet28 December 2023
After the dreadful earlier Reacher releases Season One of the new one one Prime was excellent, true to the book and a great cast, great filming, lighting and no intrusive music.

What went wrong with Season Two, in a word, 'everything'! A ridiculous story line that is far from the original book. Very poor casting of some of the secondary characters. Ridiculous over-acted fight scenes with very loud irritating music.

What is going on here. From a very promising start with Season One this has just gone downhill.

No comparison with the excellent Bosch series that was very tight, well cast and true to the books. But I think that Michael Connelly kept tight control over everything.

I would hope that the author will bring this back to the quality of Season One in future Seasons. Echo Burning, Persuader, The Hard Way would all turn into great Seasons if done properly.

awesome comeback
Lythas_8528 January 2024
Warning: Spoilers
This is the best show on streaming at the moment.

No bs, no fillers.. just straight to action. That is why I like this show.

I remember reading these books a while back about the guys getting killed and Reacher and Neagley investigating their deaths. From what I remember, Neagley was supposed to be white and short but as sharp and rich like this same portrayal.

So dont forget Robert Patrick saying he didndt know Sarah Connor.. oh the irony, I laughed real loud.

The episode went by real fast, I think it was just like that in the books.. everybody moved on, have families but Reacher is still the same, a drifter and just hanging around..

the ending with reacher saying something and then answering good.. lol.. ok.

ATM
Prismark1020 December 2023
Jack Reacher is back, just over two years after the events of the first series.

Based on Lee Child's novel Bad Luck and Trouble. The wandering Reacher is dragged back by a coded ATM message by her old army buddy Neagley, now a successful private investigator.

The suspicious death of an old army comrade, Calvin Franz. He was part of Reacher's special investigative team.

It is not long for Reacher to figure that Franz had been tortured before being thrown to his death from a helicopter to somewhere in the Catskill mountains.

Strangely, Reacher and Neagley cannot get into contact with other former member of their investigative unit. Someone is targeting them.

It starts out interestingly enough, Reacher comes to the aid of a woman who has been carjacked. There is humour, one of the shady men is played by Robert Patrick. He has no idea who Sarah Connor is, an alias used by Neagley.

It did lag a bit here and there. The first episode had to set out its story and install some red herrings. It was noticeable how quickly Reacher manages to deduct the clues.

Season 2 is apparently Team Reacher
OldMovieRob27 December 2023
Looks like this season is going to be "Team Reacher" apparently. I've read a handful of the Reacher novels and the appeal was always Reacher as a character working mostly alone, but I guess that's just how Hollywood goes these days. That, and the Disney Marvel formula that, if there's a powerful male lead character they generally are required to be paired with an equally strong, equally smart female character, which seems to be the case here. I'll see the season through but I would have preferred more of the Reacher character acting alone, more like the first seasons where, yeah, he made some friends on the way but it still felt like he was driven to work mostly alone. I did chuckle at the inside joke with Robert Patrick's character oblivious to what the name "Sarah Connor" meant.

"Well, that's a shame. You're at least three short."
LegendaryFang5617 April 2024
Warning: Spoilers
(1,448-word review) This season has an uphill battle ahead, given that it's the second one: a follow-up to the first, which seemed to have luck on its side. It seemingly had perfect construction, writing, and structuring - a lightning-in-a-bottle, stars-aligned scenario in every sense of both phrases. And I wholeheartedly believe the characters of Oscar Finlay and Roscoe Conklin played a massive part in the first season's picture-perfect landing. But it's no secret that those two characters have made their entrances, already followed by their leave - though there could be a surprise cameo appearance by one of them by the end - and I'm skeptical about Neagley and the other recurring characters this time around (David O'Donnell, Karia Dixon, and maybe the bald guy who's keeping an eye on Neagley: Russo, as I know from his name being mentioned in the titles of clips on YouTube showing up in my recommendations when this season was airing) being able to fill in that gap and adequately filling in their shoes.

Depending on how that aspect turns out, other areas may have to step up to the plate and do some heavy lifting to make up for a potentially unsatisfactory or not up-to-par recurring cast of characters, at least compared to the excellent execution and successful incorporation of Finlay and Roscoe. In fairness, however, that only concerns the people besides Reacher. The overall plot of the adapted material here, Bad Luck and Trouble, already shows the potential of being more compelling and enjoyable with more investment attached to it than the plot of the previous season, adapted from Killing Floor.

But I suppose, on the flip side, some people, who could've felt slightly underwhelmed with the previous one, may've climbed on board immediately with this one due to more checked boxes already of the type of things they automatically gravitate towards - things that may not have been present previously.

On a personal note, I do believe this season has big shoes to fill if it's to rival or exceed the first season, with or without the specific elements from this show's beginning that seemed to do most of the carrying and subsequently propelling it beyond where it would've reached without everything synergizing to the extent they did.

Yet, even then, I do have to admit that it was still "only" mildly entertaining: one of those shows/seasons that does the basic job of being entertaining and enjoyable but nothing deeper/beyond that. That is a 'me' thing, though, and I am NOT using that sentiment as a subtle way of saying it was bad. This show is "good enough," and if this second premiere is anything to go off of concerning this continuation of the show, it'll likely continue down that route, which is beyond acceptable for me; don't get me mistaken.

I'm looking forward to continuing moving throughout this new season, from beginning to end. I know I'm a bit late, but better late than never.

I'm ending my ramblings here. It's time to talk about the premiere itself. It did its primary job of diving us right on in, subsequently presenting us with and introducing some new characters we'll be seeing more of throughout the season, the basic components of the plot we're getting with this one, and some plot-point crumbs to theorize about.

Firstly, the obvious one: Franz's death (what/who he was looking into, why he was looking into it/what exactly it entails compared to the counterfeiting operation in the first season, the possibility of his death having another cause besides merely investigating the "wrong" thing or person - also, Franz's actor sounded similar, talked similarly, and even looks somewhat similar to Ralph Macchio; Luke Bilyk would be an excellent casting choice for a family member of Daniel LaRusso in the sixth, final season of Cobra Kai, though it's probably too late to introduce someone like that at this point).

Secondly, the lingering question of why the deaths don't seem to end with Franz (suggesting there's something deeper going on if the other members of Reacher's "Special Investigators" unit are also being targeted) to this Adrian character (who he is, why Franz was looking into him/his aliases, who he works for - whether it's Robert Patrick's character or not - etc.) and Robert Patrick's character (the meta Sarah Connor joke, particularly his response to that name-drop, was good - spoiler alert, I've never even seen any of the Terminator films yet), who is presumably the primary antagonist - giving just enough to spark a sufficient level of interest and intrigue for you to want to see more, wanting to see it all unfold and be revealed to us.

Additionally, for some odd reason, I got this feeling that we may get a more action-y season compared to the further pinpointed, concentrated focus on the element of solving a case and the mystery surrounding it of the first season. I do think we'll receive some of that here to a degree, only it'll be distinctively less than before, with the added element of increased action/action-y moments. And that's not necessarily a negative thing. While the potent and palpable sense of mystery and overall tone of mysteriousness and intrigue was at the forefront of the various positives within the first season, a slight change of pace and toned-down intensity of that can be good.

I particularly liked the depiction of Neagley and Reacher's relationship/dynamic, and by extension, Alan Ritchson and Maria Sten's platonic chemistry here. There was barely any of that previously, on account of her character having little screen time. There were a few "breathable" moments with them beforehand, sure, but it seems like there will be way more opportune moments now for them to have interactions that showcase and add to the presentation and depiction of the dynamic and relationship of theirs we should be able to see and understand fully. Their conversation in the hotel room did exactly that. It was good. Moments like that accomplish a lot in terms of enhancing the overall enjoyment of an entire episode of a show.

I know some people have certain reservations regarding her character now, whether it's the fact that she wasn't in the novel being adapted or the sentiment that she's dull, maybe even poorly acted by Maria Sten. But, at the very least, most of the scenes with her and Reacher are good, in addition to keeping her character afloat, though Finlay and Roscoe landed from the get-go while Neagley does require some marinating and development to reach their level. That could very well happen throughout the season as it progresses.

The last thing I want to touch on is O'Donnell. I want to make my position clear, even though anyone who may read this likely knows the truth of this assumption of mine from already watching every episode: I've considered the possibility that he could be one of the "baddies." That henchman of Robert Patrick's character referred to Reacher by the nickname of "The Big One," and O'Donnell conceived "The Big Guy" nickname, which is similar enough; in all honesty, those two things likely aren't correlated in that sense. However, he conveniently showed up at Neagley's hotel room, and though he said it was ransacked when he got there, he could've done it himself and used his relationship with her and Reacher to play it off as if somebody else did it. Or he's an intentional red herring by the writers for the audience to expect that while another member of the unit is involved. But nothing of the sort may be the case, and nobody in the unit is involved.

I'm not 100% committed to any of those theories yet. I could very well be leaning toward him genuinely being on Reacher's side. That's because I've possibly had a glance at a Deadline or Variety article recently about (new) cast additions for S3, with one of the headshot photos potentially being Shaun Sipos, suggesting a return. Unless that vague recollection isn't quite like that, I think there's a decent chance O'Donnell is recurring in the Reacher novels like Neagley. All that's left is for me to watch the next seven episodes.

Overall, this was a decent start, and I'm interested to see what's in store. I'm just as interested to see the logically questionable, suspending-your-disbelief-required moments that supposedly start happening around the midway point to the end. I've seen a few comments bring up occurrences like that on r/JackReacher when these episodes were airing. I expect them to not detract much from the overall enjoyment and experience of each episode. There's one way of finding out which way that specific component leans - on to the next one.

When you have a HIT show.....you change it????
mluinstra11 January 2024
Greetings from the other side.

I've watched the 6 episodes of season 2 that are out so far, and sadly, it's not very good. Season one is incredible. In fact, I've watched it a few times since last year.

For some silly reason, they decided that their hit show should be completely revamped. I'm thankful they kept the character "Reacher" in the show. However, that's about the only thing they have in common.

It's now a "Team" show. Some of Reacher's old friends from his military unit (the 110th) turn up dead, so he gathers the remaining members of his unit to solve their murders. We see Neagley from from season 1, who is the young black woman from his unit. She's smarter than Reacher, obviously.

This show is boring now, and I'm finding it difficult to continue watching. It was so much better when Reacher basically worked alone.

It was a mistake releasing the episodes weekly because I have a hard enough time being motivated enough to continue watching the episodes, but having to wait a week, I just might give up now. I don't care how it ends, or if anyone dies (other than Reacher).

Hopefully, if there is another season, they will be smart enough to return to their original format, and punch up the writing. I guess we will have to wait and see.

Same main character, different show
tyson-davis-11-9222772 January 2024
Season one of Reacher was pretty good. Not great, but entertaining and not TERRIBLY obvious. I wish I could say the same for season two after 3 episodes.

The acting of the main character has never been great, but the story in season one was pretty solid and the supporting characters were decent to good actors. In season two, the acting is bad to terrible for the majority of the characters. The writing is terrible. Terrible, cliched dialogue. The scenes are too obvious and contrived.

Nothing new here. It's just an amalgam of everything we've seen in these types of shows for the last twenty years. Don't bother watching.

Not Reacher and Too predictable
vincentwetmore17 December 2023
I am watching the writers think they don't have to try anymore. A 10 year old who was told who Reacher is probably wrote the script while all the writers were off on strike.

That's all I really have to say on this and here's my prediction of what happens after watching the first 10 minutes and turning it off.

Reacher finds the people that Calvin (whoever) was working for. One of them seems bad, isn't bad, the real bad guy from his team (omg!). Then he hunts his old teammate down and it gets emotional for no reason. Then he catches him, maybe his partner gets shot but she survives. The end.

The reason I say it's not reacher is the scene when he gets evidence in the coffee shop. They turned him into Sherlock Holmes. He gets the evidence, looks at it for 3 seconds and knows everything. Even Sherlock has to study the evidence and you watch him come to a conclusion. Even that conclusion isn't always 100%. Reacher takes 3 seconds to tell me everything that happened in the crime. At least have him study the evidence before he makes the crazy conclusions.

Season 2 is terrible
doublejaytude30 December 2023
I enjoyed the first season to be honest, but this second season is so bad that I wonder if it is the same director. The acting is so poor the fight scenes are annoyingly poor. Seems like a script written by a 10 year old. It's more suitable for a cartoon, now don't get me wrong, there's nothing wrong with cartoons but at least you realise that it's a cartoon your watching.

This second season is full of cringe scenes that I could not finish the second episode, I totally gave up on the entire show.

No effort was put into making this show any better, seems they rushed to put it out but in my opinion it's crap.

OK, not great
Johnny_West27 February 2024
I watched this all the way to the end. A lot of scenes were awkward. The dialogue was just awful on many occasions. Lots of phrases got repeated over and over again, like these folks talk to each other in slogans all the time.

Reacher seems to be almost autistic on a Rain Man level. They should have hired Dustin Hoffman to join the team. A lot of time he is just standing around as people talk to him. He is a man of few words, but sometimes he just seems to be frozen without anything to say or think.

Serinda Swan becomes his girlfriend, and she has little or no chemistry with Reacher. The sex scenes between Reacher and Serinda are sad to watch. Maria Sten has more going on with Reacher, and she has more spark to her character. She has a lot more charisma than Serinda.

This season would have been a lot better without Serinda Swan or Marc Bendavid (O'Donnell). Swan was a really cold personality. O'Donnell added nothing to the whole season. He could have been written out and nobody would have noticed.

Robert Patrick does a good turn as a villain. The assassin guy is a nasty dude who kills people without much reason. The villains are all simple characters, but they are enough in terms of menace.

The first season had Reacher mostly teaming up with the sheriff lady, and that worked well. Reacher and Maria Sten had good chemistry, and they should have stuck to those two. The rest of the characters could have helped but it did not have to be all four of them together 24/7.

PATHETIC
interisah23 December 2023
I don't understand who is writing this episodes ? Like a child who is 9 years old or something .

It is more like a super hero comics not like Reacher season 1 anymore ! Champion who saves everyone around him using his muscle and at the same time he is genius to resolve any crime within 5 seconds but he is so good not to use any technology or electronic device

an OH don't forget how much he is caring and loving and showing compassion to his team in the ARMY who treated them like brothers and sisters to be a one good team to fight the evil forces .

One thing I can say about this start : PATHETIC.

Rather boring and generic
petercarlsson-9229715 December 2023
First season of "Reacher" was really good. But, unfortunately now - not so much. A rather bland and boring episode with Reacher as this giant who can handle anything. He's not Reacher anymore, he's a superhero and that means zero suspense.

The supporting characters are all uninteresting and the back story doesn't add anything, but it takes away the flow of the story. So, well, I guess the first season was a shot of luck, and I'm not expecting this to be worth following.

I'm gonna give it some more time, but not expecting it to change much in the coming episodes. I for sure hope it will, but it seems that it has lost it's touch.

What did I just watch?

After Season 1 of reacher I was shocked and so excited for season 2. This was one the poorest opening episodes I've seen. Reacher solves every mystery or crime scene like he's reading off a telegram. The way this is written feels for children. Overall disappointing start so far see if it gets better but it's so predictable and really don't care about any of the supporting characters. Reacher turning into a superhero and nealgy is by far the most annoying character ever. I will continue to watch in the hope of this getting better but compared to the first season feels like a massive down grade in writing and overall direction, boring episode.
