An excellent low-budget sci-fi drama/thriller feature
bypeterfenton14 May 2024
This was a glitchy, trippy sci-fi drama/thriller feature film in all the best ways! Incredible cinematography, vibes, and production design really grounded you in the story and the production did an excellent job of achieving a lot with very little resources--scaling the screenplay properly to tell an engaging story with just a few characters within a small amount of locations. Transient poses some interesting questions, too, exploring themes about the ethics of dwelling on memories and the lengths we go to when we wish to avoid conflict.

Chris Ruppert and Sugey Cruz put together an amazing story with Transient and put together an excellent cast and crew to bring the film to life.

Superbly-paced Sci-Fi Thriller

Superbly-paced sci-fi thriller/suspense. Transient hits right at the intersection of human experience and technology.

Even while dancing on the cutting edge of innovation, this film remains grounded as it explores the importance of self, love, grief, and memory. Well-written and excellently performed, it held my full attention through every moment.

A showcase of Pennsylvania talent both onscreen and off, with everything tied together through practical and visual effects. The original music is evocative. So much more to explore in this Transient world, would go to the theater again in a heartbeat to see a sequel.

Great Indie Film

Really great story line, well written and equally well produced. Cinematography really captured the mood and heart beat of the scenes.

The entire cast was amazing! Bringing to life each character with well throughout choices through the entire film.

Love the fact that this is a PA produced film - so many talented people in and around this area, I really like the "home-grown" aspect of film-making when there is a local aspect to it.

I love a good sci-fi movie and this one did not disappoint. A few cleaver twists and turns, will keep the audience on the edge of their seats.

Definitely worth a watch!

Sci-fi thriller with Hollywood Vibe

The storyline was brilliant, the cinematography was amazing! I was especially happy to hear that they Take pride in hiring from their local state of Pennsylvania for these projects!!

I love the sci-fi genre and this film had me guessing and wanting to watch it again to see what I might've missed. You can tell they took time to research the science behind the concepts that they use to tell the story. As a tech nerd, I loved how thru in math and real tech (Arduino), VSCode, whiteboard diagrams, TPUs and adjusting parameters while they are training the model all showed little technical details that added to setting up the storyline and making it feel authentic even to my domain level expert scrutiny.

I wait to see What these filmmakers come up with next! Bravo.

I can't wait to watch them again!!

Excellent. Darkly Beautiful.

Very pleased we got to see this at it's premiere. My wife and I loved it and were very impressed. She got scared and gripped my hand tight! She said it's the scariest movie she's seen in a long time, and it was mind-blowing. I really enjoyed it, too. It was a thought-provoking and gripping story, looked and sounded great, had talented actors all around. It was darkly beautiful. The music was epic. No spoilers, but there were some things in story that may be open to interpretation (or I misunderstood), so it created some good discussion on the way home. Looking forward to watching it again and seeing what these filmmakers get involved in next.

Transient - A Low-Budget Masterpiece with High-Budget Impact
AdamHartwick15 May 2024
"Transient" is a hidden gem in the sci-fi thriller genre that showcases how ingenuity and talent can transcend budget constraints. Despite its low budget, this film delivers an experience that rivals big-budget productions in both quality and storytelling.

The plot of "Transient" is compelling, weaving a narrative that keeps you on the edge of your seat from start to finish. It explores some classic sci-fi and thriller themes in a way that feels fresh and original. The twists and turns are well-executed, keeping the audience guessing and engaged.

The acting in "Transient" is exceptional. The cast delivers performances that are both believable and captivating. Each character is well-developed, and the actors bring a depth to their roles that adds significant emotional weight to the story.

The film's editing is top-notch, seamlessly blending the impressive locations and cast to create a visually stunning experience. The pacing is slow but tense, with each scene contributing to the overall tone and mystery. The cinematography deserves special mention as well, as it makes the most of the film's settings, creating an atmosphere that is both immersive and eerie.

One of the most impressive aspects of "Transient" is how it looks like a bigger-budget film. The production team clearly knew how to maximize their resources, resulting in high-quality visuals and sound that enhance the storytelling rather than detract from it. The attention to detail in the set design, costumes, and special effects is evident and adds to the overall polished feel of the movie.

In conclusion, "Transient" is a testament to what can be achieved with passion, talent, and a clear vision. It's a must-watch for fans of sci-fi thrillers and anyone who appreciates a well-crafted story. Don't let its low budget fool you-this film is a thrilling ride that proves you don't need a massive budget to create something truly special.

Suspense/Thriller

On May 11th, 2024 I attended a Red Carpet Event for the Premiere of Transient in Oaks PA. Lots of friends gathered to support the independent screen actors.

I was drawn into the story right off the bat with each character. As the story unfolded, I wanted to know more, see where it goes. Few times chills went down my spine and goosebumps rippled over my arms!

This had tell tales of a classic Hitchcock movie, with a twist here and there!

Loved being able to interact with the cast before and after the movie, to delve into how they felt about their characters and set scenes.

Kudos to writer: Chris Ruppert on this excellent film! I look forward to seeing it again!

Great Sci Fi thriller

What I loved most about this movie was its general accuracy as far as movie fantasy goes, and how it escalates the suspense over time.

The accuracy was pretty good for neural networks, AI, and I liked the nod to Karl Friston's "active inferencing" they drew out for the characters on the dry erase board.

The ending caught me by surprise a little, so that is always good!

Generally believable performances, solid supporting actors and the leads did "bro-tech" pretty well.

The movie itself is a mix between Sunshine of the Spotless Mind and a kind of Flatliners. I kind of dig how they mashed it together.

I wish there was a sequel.

The Return of Cerebral Sci-Fi
phwroteit14 May 2024
Transient is nothing short of dynamic. It's lofty, dark and brooding. Well-paced and written with depth, Chris Ruppert's vision shines and glitches through inventive storytelling. A stellar cast with chops, it stars Greg Poppa, Sugey Cruz, and Eric Frances Melaragni as each deliver gripping performances offering edge of your seat character studies juxtaposed against the backdrop of the perils of technology used for dire purposes. The work is easily reminiscent of other science fiction classics that push boundaries, such as Flatliners and Dead Ringers. Do yourself a favor and view this film now!
