An interesting take on Mahabharata!! Worth a deko!!

Web series review: Mahabharata Murders streaming on Hoichoi #sanjuzzreviews #mahabharathamurders #hoichoi Finally a treat for my Bong friends!! Mahabharata murders is based on a Novel by author Arnab Ray.

Boasting an impressive star cast, the web series is about a modern day Duryodhan who is trying to identify & kill the Pandavas in the contemporary era to avenge the injustice done to him at Kurukshetra.

Will he succeed in accomplishing his twisted plan is what this series is all about.

An interesting plot which moves back and forth on time tracing the roots of the individual characters & also the killer is handled well . However it can get a bit confusing, as there are too many characters involved and identifying them in the flashbacks as well as the current era can get tricky .

Another point for the makers is to release the entire series at one go instead of only 3 episodes per week as they had opted to do . This can caus viewers to lose focus and perhaps leads to waning of interest.

The stellar cast comprising Saswata Mukherjee, Priyanka Sarkar , Arjun Chakrabarty and Kaushik Sen hog most of the limelight in this series. Saswata & Priyanka especially have done full justice to their roles.

All in all a decent watch. Not bad at all !! Go watch it !!

Poor direction ruined great story

It was difficult to follow. Narrative and screenplay is very poor. It ruined a great concept. The director did not use a good flow to introduce characters. All actors acted well though.

Nicely presented pandws as a villain in the past and in future a prostitute as a darupadi a drug adicted and gay as a arjun .a murderer police man and croupt politician as other pandwas ...

Poor editing

Very poor editing and cannot understand what is happening due to lack of focus on character.. The story was supposed to be good but I cannot understand what's happening.

Starts off smart and then goes downhill

Mahabharat Murders, one of the most anticipated series from Hoichoi starts off smart, and soon becomes one of the most disappointing series. Glaring Plot-holes, zero character development, confusing plot lines and hotpotched ending.

Indian version of Midsomer Murders

Story, concept and style was copied from Midsomer Murders which is running for over 23 seasons. Repackaged everything in the context of Kolkata with some hints of Mahabharata characters. That British detective was unarmed and here we find contrast when we see, detective is carrying two guns! Silly exaggeration.

I'm sure, they Can't attract a big number of people and those who started watching like me randomly , won't find them watching this silly series anymore after two episodes.

But, from a different perspective, I must say that they need to continue producing this type of thriller more so that they can reach to maturity in writing and making series in these genre.

Very poor direction and acting from actors

How can we even call this fellow a director... very poor direction. No proper story line and very poor character selection... all the actors, except Saswata, were below average.. such a boring thriller web series i have never seen.. really these guys should learn from Bangladesh about direction and proper storylines.. please dont watch and waste your time. Just putting a few sex scenes, and some suspense music doesn't make a thriller. The director should never ever try hand on any other direction. The story progression is very very boring.. repeating lines of same dialogues makes it even more unbearable. Request to director, Please don't ever try hand on any thriller series... may be porn is your cup of pf tea..

Lacks the urgency

I haven't yet got the opportunity to read the actual novel nor did I have any preliminary knowledge about the material, hence, I cannot comment on how this show might have transpired from an adaptation standpoint. Although, I must tell you that the presentation here, despite several trials and attempts, failed to create that certain kind of impact I was looking for.

All of its issues were not just present in the script itself, they were also quite persistent and pretty pronounced in the screenplay as well as in its character developments. As a result, not only did the conflicts and the drama fall flat in most cases, the ultimate revelation, the supposed unwinding of the mystery too came off as inconsequential and undesirably convoluted.
