the story lacked this season
lukejosephswain21 September 2022
I loved the first season but I think this season the problem was the villains and also some choices around the action sequences.

I found that there wasn't a strong villain across the entire season. Firstly, Rosalind unfortunately bored me and didn't really give me a protagonist vibe. Also, the blood witches being led by Sebastian didn't make them seem like a huge threat. I felt they needed a stronger protagonist that made them feel like an actual threat to the characters.

Lack of magic/action sequences was disappointing and those that we got were not that strong. Especially in this final episode I felt parts were quite cringey (eg the running of the specialists clashing with each other in this ep). Feels like they don't have much budget to work with.

I will keep watching however as I love the show and I hope they can bring it back for more seasons and bring it back to the vibes of season 1.

S2 was ok but nothing special

Warning: Spoilers
Overall a disappointing ending. The final battle was nothing special and very limited in terms of magical powers, it builds up all this momentum throughout the season and you get a very short final fight similar to S1.

They focus more on the sword fighting than the actual magic fighting, kinda frustrating.

Bloom was seriously going to give up her power for her boyfriend, and put the whole world at "risk", sigh.

Even during the final battle instead of her friends running they simply walk their way to rescue her....

The Queen is nothing more than useless including her so called army. When we do see an army it's the students fighting, laughable at best.

Beatrix was the only character that I actually enjoyed seeing this season as every move was a mystery. She is the true hero amongst this season, even without her magic she was still fearless.

I would have personally liked to of seen bloom flying around with the dragon flame killing blood witches, showing her true power. However, then we would start with power limitations as shown in the final fight after her rage moment.

The final part where she goes into the darkness was nothing more than selfish. If we actually see monsters come through the portal I would understand the urgency but this wasn't shown or explained. It's instead her visions that lead her there.

Will there be a season 3, highly unlikely, if so they need to work on advancing the powers of the fairies by teaching lessons, and showing off more magical powers.

I LOVED IT

Warning: Spoilers
Wait

Is it really selfish bloom sacrificing herself going into the portal? I mean, she left everything behind to save her friends, you don't know what can come from the Realm of Darkness, she had to close it from the other side, and yeah, it would've been easier if bloom killed Sebastian from ep 5/6, and make Rosalind the villain to kill in ep7.

Bloom was less selfish this season, she would always ask her friends for help and also considerate sky, not like in s1. Even though she flexed a lot with the dragon flame I mean yeah, she was the most powerful. Season 2 was SO MUCH better than s1 but could've been much better.

I think the cliffhanger was okay, bloom alone in the realm of Darkness, was she her mom or was it Daphne? What would happen to sky? Who will be the new Headmistress/master? How is everything gonna be now that Bloom is gone and Aisha, Stella, and Terra transformed?

Things I want for season 3:

MORE MAGIC, I didn't find s3x scenes uncomfortable but it would be better if those scenes were replaced by class scenes, the girls playing with the magic etc.

More teachers, like, there were no teachers 💀, who taught them to control their magic? Each element is different, there should be a professor for each element, Avalon and Palladium could be introduced for season 3

ENCHANTIX.

Best Season yet

Fate: The Winx Saga concludes its second season with a closure for the main drama involving Sebastian and a larger conflict on the horizon. The kids use their magic together, with wings and a call-back to the animated series, which negates the earlier inner conflict about not killing Sebastian. The attack on the school is resolved, and Bloom's Dragon Flame powers are used to close the portal. If renewed for another season, the kids may find a magic to open the portal and bring Bloom back. Bloom's mother may also be the main antagonist, setting up another cliched confrontation. However, the second season has been average at best, with plot contrivance and holes, and the romance feels half-baked. If there is a third season, it's hope it improves over the current one. In Episode 7 of Fate: The Winx Saga Season 2, the scrapers launch an assault on a school, ambushing students and knocking down Flora. Beatrix and Sebastian intervene, while Musa is hidden. Flora is taken to the basement with other fairies and Specialists. Sebastian gains control of some Specialists in Alfea. The group converges on the outskirts of town to devise a plan to fight back against Sebastian and stop the Blood Witches. Sky, trapped in confinement, escapes when a guard arrives. Sky fights through the school and regroups with other Specialists, but the gang retreats due to the overwhelming number of Blood Witches. Silva instructs Sky to return to the groundskeeper's cabin, leaving him vulnerable. Musa manages to break Flora free from her captors, while Bloom faces a difficult situation when Sebastian demands she meet him without telling anyone. With Grey and Sky's lives in danger, she has little choice but to fight. Beatrix and Stella work undercover to uncover Sebastian's plans. They discover an entity in the Realm of Darkness that can raise the dead, aiming to bring everyone from Aster Dell back to life. Sebastian needs the Dragon Flame to open it, which he possesses with Bloom. The conduit must be closed from the other side, and Bloom's presence with Sebastian and Sky's leverage is expected to cause significant problems. Bloom agrees to channel her power into the crystal for Sebastian to take it in. Meanwhile, Specialists and Fairies gather to prepare a strike. Flora distills a pheromone of her magic to attract scrapers and use Eldwynn to sacrifice herself and kill all the scrapers simultaneously. Terra is shocked, but Flora's plan seems the only way. Sebastian tells Bloom about her past, revealing that Bloom's mother had the same Dragon Flame magic due to being in stasis for 1000 years. Bloom, born during an ancient war, loses control and kills thousands, destroying her good will. Feeling guilty, she puts herself in the Realm of Darkness, causing Bloom to be stuck in stasis. Bloom transfers her magic into the crystal, while Beatrix frees Sky from his binds and destroys the crystal. Sebastian flings her across the room, causing Beatrix to slam her head against the floor, causing blood to ooze out. Bloom loses control and conjures her Dragon Flame. Sky remains alive, allowing Bloom to focus on her anger. The fairies use their magic together, sprouting magical wings and killing Sebastian. The killing of Sebastian four episodes ago could have solved many problems. Bloom discovers a mysterious magic mass in the basement, which is a conduit to the Realm of Darkness. Sebastian had enough magic to open it before his death, and the only way to close it is to be on the other side. Sky attempts to convince Bloom to stop her plan, but she's unable. The group leaves, and Bloom heads alone. The next morning, the other kids find their letters and despair. Bloom wanders through the Realm, finding a mysterious castle with her mother inside. She walks towards it, and a shadowy presence watches Stella from afar.

Flights Of Fearful Fancy - S02 Review
JoshuaMercott26 September 2022
Magic and fantasy elements sat well with great character-arcs and sorcerous creatures in the second season of "Fate: The Winx Saga". Though they had only seven episodes, each was almost an hour long. This gave the writers and directors enough room to play, and not rush the story (contrary to what some other reviews claim happened).

S02 managed to contain numerous high points worth appreciating, from teen romances and notable inter-character chemistry, to emotional plot-elements and sufficient suspense. Directors Ed Bazalgette, Sallie Aprahamian, and David Moore did notable work. Writers Brian Young, Victoria Bata, Amanda Rosenberg, Talia Gonzalez, Vanessa James Benton, Shaina Fewell, and Gregory Locklear scripted an interesting lineup of episodes. They explored important story branches, in "Fate: The Winx Saga" season 2 that fans of the show will like.

Musical scoring by Anne Nikitin was great. Engaging cinematography by Manoel C. Ferreira, Sergio Delgado, and Philippe Kress. Alluring production design. Good work on set decoration and art direction. Great FX and stunts. Noteworthy costume design by Rebecca Hale. Good hair-makeup and sound effects.

Bloom, played by Abigail Cowen, was memorable. Riven, played by Freddie Thorp, was great. Terra, played by Eliot Salt, was amazing. Sky, played by Danny Griffin, was quite good. Aisha, played by Precious Mustapha, was outstanding. Musa, played by Elisha Applebaum, was good. Beatrix, played by Sadie Soverall, was interesting. Sebastian, played by Éanna Hardwicke, was good. Grey, played by Brandon Grace, was great.

Saul Silva, played by Robert James-Collier, was notable. Sam, played by Jacob Dudman, was good. Flora, played by Paulina Chávez, was quite good. Headmistress Rosalind, played by Miranda Richardson, was great. Andreas, played by Ken Duken, was outstanding. Former headmistress Farah Dowling, played by Eve Best, was memorable.

All other cast and crew did good work in "Fate: The Winx Saga" Season 2 now streaming on Netflix.

With magic, there is always going to be the 'convenience factor' to worry about. While season 1 gave us plenty to enjoy, it just felt like they freely used magic in season 2. This reduced the script's conflict value, and made important moments feel conveniently resolved. Nonetheless, it took little away from the overall story, especially the motivations of its characters.

"Fate: The Winx Saga" season 2 boasted more than a handful of interesting moments. Performances were on point, and good soundtracks enhanced various portions of the script. The further involvement of Blood Witches and the coming of creatures like the magic-consuming Scrapers enriched this season's thrill factor. Characters like Terra, Aisha, Headmistress Rosalind, and Andreas made S02 worth watching.

Though performances and VFX kept season 2 interesting, it could have benefited from more magical and action-driven sequences. They also had room to make this season darker and more terrifying, but alas. The real action and emotion scenes were all packed into the last two episodes. Two important characters were taken out of the picture rather early, though. I'd have liked to see them contribute more near the end.

The biggest reveal of the show came in the finale episode of S02, but it was not given the grand attention it deserved. Regardless, Bloom's Dragonflame still has room to roar. The last few minutes of the season were both portentous and ominous.

I personally believe the show deserves a third round, if only to tie up loose ends and prove it can do better. Here's hoping Netflix greenlights season 3 "Fate: The Winx Saga" - preferably with ten or more episodes. As the saying goes, third time's the charm.
