"Journey to America" is an installment of "The American Experience" which focuses specifically on the very poor immigrants which came to America in the late 19th and early 20th century...most of which came through Ellis Island. The show is NOT about prior immigrants nor the rich and middle class immigrants.
The show does a great job of describing how 'foreign' and scary this immigration was...with the many barriers and difficulties folks went through to become Americans. All in all, a wonderful portrait of the country at the time...and one which would be great for kids to see in order to see where their family came from as well as the difficulties it took.
