THE PERFUMED ARROW is another vehicle for famed '60s Shaw Brothers actress Ivy Ling Po, another opportunity for her to do her bit, and yes, once again she's playing a cross-dressing character. This one's a musical so most of the dialogue and exposition are sung rather than said, which I found a bit ridiculous on occasion. The stalwart production values count for a lot and there's a minor role for the youthful great Liu Chia-Liang, but otherwise it's all a bit perfunctory and nothing special. Dated, too.
