From start to finish. Reality hits. Beautiful story. I loved how they love each other. A story of finding who you are and being proud of it. Beautiful story. Strong acting.

BUT WHYYY???
tabz-oiro14 November 2021
This show has absolutely ruined all Bl dramas for me. Such a well written story! And the actors are amazing! And no season 2?.....whhyyyyy??
Most BL dramas are quite badly produced, bad story lines and poor acting. This is the first BL I have seen with good story, though short, good character development, though it could be better and a good group of actors. Totally enjoyed it. But left yearning for season 2.

Almost Perfect But...

The series was good. The plot. The acting. The technicalities. Almost perfectly done but TBH it didn't made an actual impact to me as I only cried and affected in Ep. 7 only. The ending was ok but it could have been better. A good series deserves a happy ending. Yes the ending is realistic but both realistic and happy endings are better. I still love a roller coaster plot. I love the poetry touch in the story though.
A Love Letter to the LGBTQIA+ Community

"Gaya Sa Pelikula" is such a game changer in the world of BL Series. I love how they raised awareness on important issues surrounding the community at large. That's why I see it beyond just a "Boy Love" series where the usual trope involves two straight men falling in love; rather, you'd see that they wanted to "normalize" LGBTQIA+ representation in media instead of sensationalizing it.
Definitely a must watch!

No comparison but this is probably the best Pinoy BL to date. The writing, cinematography and acting, including the supporting casts, are on point. Plus the independence of Vlad is kinda close to my heart. Basta, ang galing.

Sweet, insightful and real

I really like that it was kind of realistic, and the actors, especially the main actors, are playing their parts really well. Really great chemistry between the main couple. It also has lot of symbolism - you should read the most liked comments on youtube.
A MUST WATCH

From writing to directing to acting to musicality...Wow..This series is god tier..Coming from someone who has watched all kinds of bl dramas..This GSP is something else, they highlighted bl (lgbtq) issues which no other bl drama has done before. I don't know how I will watch other dramas after this. GSP SET THE STANDARD WAY TOO HIGH FOR OTHER DRAMAS EITHER BL OR NOT.
Masterclass In Writing

It really is hard to articulate a great show like Gaya Sa Pelikula. Because it has depicted societal issues really well, the show insist its viewers to discuss and learn from its amazing storytelling. The direction, casting, production, and all other technicalities are perfect in their own ways but what makes Gaya Sa Pelikula stands out the most is its ability to spark conversations and voice out issues that needs addressing. There is no other BL show like Gaya Sa Pelikula. This premium series is beyond your regular BL. No wonder why this show is being labelled as god-tier.
A Masterpiece

"Gaya Sa Pelikula" has a incredible plot, full of emotions and sensibility. The series is a change and it's definitely a new moment for the BL genre. The whole cast, from actors to producers, have a great and relatable perspective to show the audience about the struggles in the LGBTQA+ community and as to be women, not only, but also for those in the society, that everyone has rights and must be understood and respected. It's a brilliant series. We hope to get a second season, because there's a lot more to learn from this beautiful story.
Beautifully written!!!

This is such a masterpiece; the plot, the characters, and the story. It tackles not only the LGBTQA plus plus issues but also the significance of finding and having a home, a piece of our home that we can share to anyone who needs it.

If i describe this show in just one word, it should be "Prefection". This is a beautiful coming of age story where the main characters somehow ends up living as housemates because of their mutual love for movies and start to gradually develop feelings for each other. Must sound hella cliche, right? But trust me it's not. This show constantly keeps on teaching you what is the right and the wrong way to be an ally of the LGBTQ community. This show teaches people, especially youngsters who are still in the process of discovering their sexuality, that it's okay and there is nothing wrong with them. You can also see how the societal pressure has been ruining their lives. Overall, you can clearly see that the show's primary motive was never to generate quick cash which is almost always the aim behind most of the BL series because BL genre is quite famous, but this show intended more to create awareness and to educate. Almost every person I know belonging to the community and who have seen this show have always felt an instant connection to either Vlad or Karl. The way the show mentions certain metaphors and form a connection of those with the main characters, is pretty awesome. The music used is beautiful and lyrics always match the mood of the scenes. The actors have done a BRILLIANT
job portraying the characters. Overall, i feel like its a must watch for every BL enthusiast. It is my favourite BL series ever besides Skam Norway. But even if you are not a BL genre enthusiast, just try 1 episode and I am sure you will be tempted to watch more and more and more. This is a really good show with good humour and will make you feel all sorts of emotions.
Even though season 1 finale is not out yet, but i already can't wait for season 2
An eye-opener.

I whish I could express how good this series is.. I'm not even sure it's a BL anymore, it's just a regular amazing series, that should be on Netflix and shown to everyone worldwide...
The acting is amazing, the plot is well constructed and completely different from what we are used to in other series (it doesn't follow the easy path, from one cliche to the other. I was actually surprised several times), and above all the dialogues are sooo well written ! When they fight they have actual arguments and punchlines... when they express their feelings, when they are embarassed or in love... everything feels so natural !! I could go on and on about how all the secondary characters have depth and bring something meaningful to the story (they're not just comic-relief), how it is visually beautiful and very well directed, how they tackled several everyday issues like employment, housing, parenting, grief, etc. I just... don't have all the words for it... It's just so natural and incredibly well-executed. It should become a classic, a new standard for bl, and above all it absolutely deserve a season 2 !!

Exudes Charm, Relevance, and Sensitivity. Great OST.

Top notch BL in almost all technical categories. The relevance of issues raised on this show is beyond me, and the writing was just perfect. The soundtrack was bomb; it added more layers and excitement to the story. I love how the show did not pretend to be something else, like I'm this kind of show or what. Everything was just so natural and unpretentious despite all the great lines it has thrown and all the tropes it broke. Its perfect.
Masterful Storytelling

In a span of 8 episodes, this film talked about issues regarding LGBTQIA+ community. This is commendable because it didn't compromise the flow of the story. It really shows how masterful Juan Miguel Severro is!
Some of the issues talked here are:
Also I love how there are easter eggs surrounding this series sobrang cute! HAHAHA.
Some of the issues talked here are:
- Performative Allyship
- Internal homophobia
- A role of a single mother (Feminism, as it is also intertwined with LGBTQIA+ struggles)
- Artist's compensation (Galing nito HAHA)
- Coming Out

Being beautiful does not mean being able to play a role.

It is difficult to talk about "Gaya Sa Pelikula".
The idea is good, but the actors don't know how to play.
Ian Pangilinan is not able to portray a gay character.
Paolo Pangilinan overacts and also looks unconvincing.
Being handsome does not mean being able to play a role.
But I liked the female actresses.
Compliments to Adrienne Vergara and Yesh Burce. They are both good comedic actresses.
Also Justine Peña looks good in her small role.
I know many people will be not agry with me. But good acting is very important. I am sure Ian Pangilinan will be good in playing heterosexual personages.

How wonderful

I just saw this small series by pure coincidence and I must admit it really triggered my romantic feelings. The two main actors are playing their roles with so much love and compassion, that also some tears of joy and sadness were coming. Thanks for this wonderful testimony for male love.
it's an awwwww show

Stunning show.

This show is genuinely my favourite of this year, easily rewatchable and raised my expectations of bl dramas unbelievably high. Wishing for a season two. Well cast and has an amazing soundtrack. As a member of the LGBTQ+ community I can only say it helped me feel more comfortable as a person overall as the story is so relatable. I don't often write reviews, but I have such an appreciation for this particular web drama that I felt I had to.
