This show just does everything right for me. The subtleties and the deep character exploration is like no other sci-fi I know. Love it!

Great episode
8512229 September 2022
Greetings from Lithuania.

Second episode of season 5 was a great one. I really enjoyed the settings - without going into spoilers territory i will only say that majority of this episodes time transpires on earth. And this setting for this show was so surprising and fresh. It was so unique to see one of the majore character on earth. And I liked the story, acting, script very well. Special effects are very solid, and considering the small screen format they actually are pretty good, but not amazing - some scenes do look a bit not convincing. Music was solid as well as editing and other technical stuff.

Other plot lines of this season so far are also good but they need time to pick it up. As every character in this season is on its quest, i believe they will get better and eventually will lead to great things. What i do not like about this series and especially this season so far is that it's just looks a bit to clean, considering that previous seasons featured a bit more dirt style and settings,. But maybe that is the point.

Overall, so far after two episodes i'm really enjoying season 5 so far. It's a really good series, as it always was before.

THE LONG WAIT CHURNING
douglasjordane7 January 2021
I KNOW SOMETIMES WE SCOFF AT THE PROCESS AND LONG FOR THE RESULTS. MY ONLY CONSOLATION IS THAT I GUARANTEE THE PRODUCT IS GOING TO BE GOOD!

I RELUCTANTLY ADMIT THAT I DONT REALLY KNOW WHAT'S GOING ON HALF THE TIME WITH THIS SHOW -NOR THE CHARACTER NAMES, BUT I'M ALWAYS EAGERLY INTRIGUED BY THE UNFOLDING AND INTERACTION. CALCULUS IS LIKE THAT: YOU DONT UNDERSTAND IT AT FIRST BUT IT CAN DO SOME AMAZING THINGS! RATING: 7

WAIT FOR IT.....

Warning: Spoilers
I want to share that including the following dialogue just made alot of 2020 worth going through. Holden: Guys! Holds up phone. Fred: Whaty'd you do? Holden: There's a button. I pushed it. Fred:...that's really how you go through life idnit? I smiled for hours upon reading this bit in the novel. It encapsulates Holden & plays out his & Fred's relationship very well. I really wanted this acted out in the epi. Thank you for not disappointing. Its been awhile since last smiled.

Brilliant

I love science fiction more than anything and this show has always delivered. Yet the way this episode gave us an edge of your seat emotional trip into each characters past was truly outstanding. Somehow in season 5 we grow to love the characters even more.

It's the Best

I love the patience shown in this series. There is an intellectual bent to everything. The main strength is the depth of character in a future that is complex and constantly unfolding. The hard part for me is keeping up with the multitude of forces that are at work. But that's my problem. This episode takes us back to the conflicts between Earth and Mars, both scientifically and politically. Where will the ship being repaired take us. Also, there is the visit to the prodigal son.

Season 5 is as good as the brilliant source material! At this pace we're going into Babylon's Ashes!

Not quite as mediocre as the first episode

Warning: Spoilers
Slightly better than the first episode of the season. No distressed mother seeking her son this time. Amos is back on Earth where, apparently, gravity is no longer a problem for someone who has been in space for three years. And according to a profound lecture at the war college of Mars, "Plan and prepare for every possibility, and you will never act (...) were the words of Xerxes, Persia's king of kings". Yes, the Persian king notable for his pitifully failed invasion of Greece! Obviously the producers have decided to do away with both science and history.
