Another epic season and ending!
kona009628 April 2020
Warning: Spoilers
For me this was another phenomenal season. The start captivates you and the end leaves you wanting so much more. I think alot of people are forgetting The Last Kingdom sticks towards the real history history side of things (when it can) and Sigtryggr securing peace and land in England really did happen. I think people just want to see heads cut off all the time, where as this ending for me absolutely nailed it. The next season we will probably see Uhtred and Sigtryggr become allies. Destiny is all!

Give us S5

Even without Alfred's character I absolutely loved S4. The bond between Uhtred and his men is magical. I loved the new characters and story line. Great job and can't wait to see more.

Astonishing
mariosixt28 April 2020
As a fan of the show who did not read the books(maybe one of the few) I was truly excited for this season but I have to say that those 10 episodes totally exceeded my expectations. From the first episode to the last it kept getting better and better, the bond between the characters is amazing but what made this season great for me was how it made me feel.Every scene I felt like I was there, whenever something intense was happening I was on the edge of my seat it was truly an amazing experience. Looking forward for what happens next.

Solid season, but falls short of season 3
gabrielhopkinson27 April 2020
Warning: Spoilers
Season 4 is full of epic battle scenes and fantastic characters, but fans of the books may be slightly disappointed this time. They really only took the bare essentials and changed all the details, which is a shame as the books' story is much stronger.

For instance what happened to Uhtred's second son, who we saw being born at the beginning of season 3 and who plays a big role in the books? Also, apart from episode 3, it also lacks the emotional weight of season 3. Having said that, some parts like the attack on Bebbanburg are as good as it's gets..

Great Series
gp-956-28410328 April 2020
The series is excellent from season 1-4, and accurately depicts the rise of the Saxons and their historic battles with the Vikings and Danes..And to the whiner, there were battles and action in all 10 episodes in season 4.

Crossed Fingers for Season 5
Junglebrute1 May 2020
I have loved this show! It has had great pace character building and fantastic battles and storylines. Season 4 was a great addition to an already strong series. The emotion created by the plot was great you just can't help but binge watch it. Netflix please give the go ahead for Season 5! Let's keep it going! Great show!

Theres some so captivating about this programme I cant help but keep watching and now I've got the end I cant wait for the next series. I love how it keeps to history with giving it a slight drama edge to it all. I cant wait to see where the characters go next season and how the have changed. To me this series has been another 10 out of 10!

BEST SEASON SO FAR! GREAT FINALE!

THE LAST KINGDOM SEASON 4 REVIEW! NO SPOILERS!

BIG! BIG! BIG! BIG! YOU SHOULD NOT MISS THIS!

Often viewed as some as a Netflix Gem! The Last Kingdom has returned for a new season. Telling the story of Uhtred and his journey to take back his land of Bebenburg. Uhtred was once torned between choosing his lover, family, honor and destiny. A Battle Royal from start to finish with a bit of politics and betrayal involved. There are new characters to hate and love. The pace of the story is not dragging at all and will leave you at the edge of your seat. They ended the season with thrill for what comes next but not a cliffhanger. Ending will leave you satisfied and excited for the next season.

I was following this show since it was still produced by BBC. Since the 1st season it has a great potential to be the next big thing in TV. But often overshadowed by shows like Game of Thrones and Vikings. I'm happy how Netflix saw the potential it has and made the show even better.

Doesnt fall short of season 3
mbocquet-0406130 April 2020
Warning: Spoilers
Like game of thrones, season 4 is a new cycle, and it is really making you want to see uthred is those landscapes, those sunsets, for many more seasons. The soundtrack is great, character development is about to grow great, it would really be interesting to see the rise of king aethelstan and the creation of england. They showed how to make a good character out of a young dane (unlike vikings) sygtrigyr and stiorra is a good thing. All in all, can't wait for more

Season 4, better than expected
kevinlaura443 May 2020
This last episode provided a great ending.

Overall season 4 was really good - on par with season 3.

Only a couple of times was I disappointed in the plot and action, but overall excellent series.

Thank you to Uhtred and the cast!

Don't do it Netflix
lizbeuerle10 May 2021
It would be a huge disservice to Netflix customers to cancel this show before it's time. I literally subscribe to Netflix just for this show.

Martha Hillier what you doing
HellenKeller4820 May 2020
Warning: Spoilers
Season 4 had a new writer, and it shows. The word "ambition" is repeated through this season over and over from different characters and it gets repetitive and annoying. It reminds me of a child who learned a new word and uses it in every sentence, except a grown up wrote this and had almost every character use it in a Netflix show S4 introduces many new characters that are actually well written, it is just the dialogue and actions of some of the past characters that upsets me. Edward went from an intelligent kin to Alfred to a dimwit (hopefully they will fix that next season). Heiston, who despises Uhtred, has the chance to kill him on the road but decides to leave him hanging with 2 of his men to watch him... smh. One of the bright spots from this Season is the introduction of Sigtryggr, a Dane with honor.

Overall, this season is quite a step-down from the last season (its hard to top season 3), still enjoyable to watch. I hope there is a change on who writes Season 5.

Overuse of music to add tension and drama
ElizDarcyJ10 June 2020
There are a few reasons why I didn't enjoy Season 4 as much as the previous three seasons. One was the music. I watched the entire season with the TV remote control in my hands so I could rewind and turn on closed captioning when the music played while characters were talking. Maybe it was my ears or the TV speakers, but it was hard to hear what the actors were saying. The music was used to add tension and drama, but it gave the show a soap opera feel and was annoying. Hopefully the music in Season 5 is done differently. They didn't do that in the first three seasons.

Siege equipment?
kadlin45630 April 2020
Warning: Spoilers
Why wouldnt king edward use a siege tower or ladders or battering rams? Sending calvary to the walls and archers is suicide. Not very well written there.

Warning: Spoilers
I binge watched the entire season in one day , it was worth it! A lot of great moments that needed to happen to allow the story progress faster . the ending was a solid preparation for the rise of aethelstan and uthred in the next (and hopefully last ) season.

Episode 10 helped turn around the season
Tr-u-mpbilly28 April 2020
Great show, but Season 4's Episode 8 had me questioning the series. Luckily, they turned it around. Looking forward to Season 5. I wish they could make them a little faster.

Great and Unexpected Ending
khtamer13 May 2020
Warning: Spoilers
Unlike the first 3 seasons that every last episode contains a big battle, But this season's last episode is totally different in a good manner, Because not every time a season has to end with a massacare, There was alot of fighting yes but not for the end instead they showed another face and mind of Danes, Sigtryggr is clever and i liked his acting, for me it's a 10/10 episode and can't wait for season 5 to come.

Tied up with a bow
Calicodreamin17 November 2021
The end of season four comes tied up in a bow, with the people all in their rightful places and a few tidbits to leave us wanting for another season. Decent enough acting and storytelling.

Dissaponted
paulrbirty2 May 2020
Season 4 was a joke. The overall quality of the acting has dropped and the storylines are ridiculous and badly thought out. All i can say is they went for the cheap option and rubbed in a generous dose of PC and it shows. I cant see the show surviving two more seasons, and expect the next season to be the last. They basically seem to have given up on the show anyway, and this is due to awful writing.

Not the best, but it was a really good season with a great ending.
raphaelmarcelino4 May 2020
For me the last season was a little better, but I liked very much of how things get solved at the end here. Maybe it's a new time in The Last Kingdom, and only the destiny knows the next steps of this brilliant journey.
