The gang is back together, and Episode 1 ends with mega-cliffhanger worthy of any good soap
paul-allaer9 August 2021
As the second season of "The L Word: Generation Q" (2021 release; 8 episodes of about 55 min. Each) opens, we get a 2 min. Recap of the first season (released in 2019), which ended in a mega-cliffhanger: would Sophie chose to follow Finely, or Dani? Episode 1 immediately delivers the answer, and then goes back to "15 hours earlier" as we learn exactly how it all unfolded...

Couple of comments: Season 2 reunites pretty much everyone from Season 1, and continues in the same vein. Let's be honest: "The L Word: Generation Q" is at its core a true soap, nothing less, nothing more, but set in the LGTBQ+ community of Los Angeles. So if this isn't your thing, please don't bother and check out something else. If on the other hand you enjoy this for what it is, you are once again in for a good time. Episode 1 covers so much ground plot-wise that it will make your head spin, all in the best possible way. I am biting my tongue but really don't want to give away a single thing, as the story telling is really why we tune in, as is typically the case in any good soap. Let me just say that Episode 1 ends in another mega-cliffhanger that you will not want to miss! Kudos to Jennifer Beals as Beth, the core central character of this series, and also an executive producer of the series, is now a crisp 57 years in real life, but looks easily 10 or 15 years younger than that.

Episode 1 of Season 2 premiered this weekend on Showtime and is now available on SHO ON Demand, Amazon Instant Video and other streaming platforms. New episodes are on Sunday evenings at 10 pm. If you are a long-time follower of "The L Word" and its companion./updated show "The L Word: Generation Q", you know exactly what to expect, and the show delivers on that promise, period. But don't take my word for it. I'd readily suggest you check this out, and draw your own conclusion.

Not a good start

The reboot of The L Word got my attention a couple of years back. I was never a big fan of the original show, but I appreciated the good acting of most of the cast, andmost of the stories.

I don't think season one of Generation Q was bad, I enjoyed the new actors and I was waiting for a good season two, but this first episode lacked grip, the writing was banal, and the acting rather poor. I hope it gets better, because we need these kind of shows, but with better and dramatic plots.

Loved the original "L Word" and the first season of Gen Q was good.... Like reuniting with long lost family but Rosie just hit my screen with whatever cliché character fake accent type thing and I just want to cancel showtime immediately. I'll give it some time as the Jenny character on the original made me ff a lot too, so maybe I'll just need to do that? 🙄
