What a joke

First 2 seasons were so much better. What happened? I'm hoping the last episode fixes this mess.

Disappointing and Inconsistent
konrailles3 March 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Seriously, what's with all the inconsistencies?

For me the first season of the Sinner was excellent, it took a long time to find a "detective" series to catch my attention. The second season was, again, in my opinion, not as satisfying as the first one but still interesting and generally well-presented.

Harry Ambrose clearly sympathizes with the "perpetrators" as part of his detective work and a character with weaknesses of his own. Therefore, I found the part with the secret recording particularly disturbing and inconsistent. Someone might argue that the nature of the murders of the first two cases (or first two seasons) was different and I can agree to that, however I am still disappointed.

I could forgive the above inconsistencies up to the point where Jaime sneaks up to head of Dorchester PD and beats him with a golf club. Seriously? From zero interaction in the whole season, we suddenly reach a point that Jaime actually beats this random guy with a golf club.

I don't think I need more than that to justify this, more than generous for the specific episode, rating.

What a shame

Warning: Spoilers
It gets worse with every episode!

I get that they are trying to explore what's up with Harry, it's just really badly done. The burial thing was rubbish and didn't seem to lead anywhere. The whole crime investigation is a joke: In this episode we see the signed confession burned by the lead detective; A recorded confession thrown out of court; Jamie appeared to go directly to jail instead of police custody, without even knowing why he'd been arrested; Then he's free to go visit his wife and his ex-student by the end of the episode. Utter nonsense.

Kind of weird episode

I don't get the premise of this episode. I find it really hard that a cop would go along with this from the bad guy. With that being said the end scene was pretty good.

This is as awful as the first two series were brilliant

After innovative and creative writing in series 1 and 2 were are back to the derivative US drama story wheel. Every series 3 episode seems to end with little loops that don't advance the plot. Netflix is heading towards the door with me

what a piece of crap
mathomas-2805327 March 2020
"The Sinner" has never been very good, but this is the worst. It has always started off with a good, twisted, episode 1, but after that, nothing happens. The dialog is pathetic. There are no ideas. It's stupid. Watch "The News Room" or "Sports Night" or "the West Wing" if you want to see dialog. I could write this crap in my sleep.

"How are you?" Long pause. Thinks about it. "I'm doing OK." Long pause. "Good." Long pause. "I saw Joanne yesterday." Long pause. "You did?" Long pause. "Yeah." Long pause. "How's she doing?" Very long pause, like this is a very profound question. "She's doing all right." Long pause. "Good." Long pause. "Are you hungry?" Long pause. "No."

You get the idea.

Might have made a decent 1-hour mystery, but to stretch this out over eight weeks...... only for completely non-thinking viewers.

If you value your time do not watch this, nothing makes sense and it is getting worse from one episode to another. Not sure what the writers were consuming even writing this.

Nonsense
cogitocamel30 November 2021
At this point, I am forced to admit that Season 3 is just pure garbage. Season 2 wasn't very good either, but this just takes the cake. Everything is over-the-top and just plain improbable....and not in a good way at all.

SO Sinner gets the confession after the you go ahead and bury me incident.

And of course he's sleeping with the Artist, so he goes back there.

Gee, I wonder if something bad will happen here. You think???

I would assume a good defense attorney would destroy this case that Sinner built up. And that's what happened. Professor back on the street again.

But we are setting the stage for complete cuckoo and a killing at the end.

Someone has gotta die.

But Professor spares the artist even tho he has her pinned. Cops get there just in time I guess. That was lame. -1 Star

I liked the scene where the Professor basically said goodbye to his wife. Killers can love too yanno. +1 Star

Professor calls Sinner and he has ELI, Sinner's kid. Should be somewhat interesting to see how this plays out.

Not really sure what I just watched. Weird episode, I get what they were trying to do, but was quite unrealistic. What detective would go with an unstable murderer and let himself be buried alive?!

With Police Like Harry Why Have Jails at All?
Hitchcoc12 August 2023
One episode to go. I fast forwarded a lot through this because it is so stupid and I have a life. Once again, sloppy police work and ridiculous motivations allows that creep to be out in the street again. You can't just record a confession like this. Harry should have been fired halfway through this episode for incompetence. The party business would be enough to put him on leave. Why is everyone scared of him. Jamie should be in jail for continuing to show up at the school. It's a private school and if asked to leave he would be taken out post haste. I'll finish this off an be done with Harry's story. I inadvertantly watched Season 4 so I know he continues to be as screwed up as he is here.
