Back like they never left

Warning: Spoilers
Very quick turnaround by Atlanta cast and crew. Consider that we had to wait 2 years between S1 and S2. Then 3 years between S2 and S3.

Nevertheless this was a powerful season premiere. A lot of callbacks to Robbin' Season, especially with the no chase policy. And as such, I expected to see Tracy in this episode but episode 2 is quite a ride and leaves you wanting more.

I wanted to get into Van's psyche a little more after what happened in Tarrare but we got 8 more episodes for that.

My man Darius just can't catch a break. If he isn't getting Nigerian restaurants shut down, then he is being chased around by an old lady in a wheelchair. It's almost like he is haunted. With that, Atlanta continues its tradition of including real life events in their storylines.

Can't wait to see where this season takes us.

PS: is Blueblood Earl Sweatshirt?

Earns High Marks

Back to the roots. Three independent stories where our main characters experience 3 very different Atlantas. Obviously fascinating on the surface with the surreal experiences we've come to expect, this is an episode that feels more satisfying the more you try to read meaning into it all.

If there's any real criticism, it's that there's no payoff carrying over from Season 3. Maybe Europe is Europe and Atlanta is Atlanta, but Van, in particular, took us on such a ride that it's a shame to see her take a backseat in this one.

If they keep this pace up, Atlanta will remain as one of the most rewarding shows you can experience.

AMAZING

This is what Atlanta means to me.

It has everything I look for in the best chapters of this series, confusion, dramatism, absurdity, humor and crossed stories that converge, ending in a point in which everything that happened does not matter and life goes on.

Earn and Vanessa in that nightmarish loop (as an intermittent couple), watching ex's everywhere talking to them.

Paper boy on an unexpected but necessary journey to find himself And Darius... Just being Darius.

Without a doubt the episode I enjoyed the most in a long time, if someone asks me "What is Atlanta about?" This is the episode I would teach them.

Nod to Seinfeld

Warning: Spoilers
The season starts off like Europe never really happened. A surreal trip down memory lane, about lovers past, an influence gone and the socioeconomic need to loot - or the absence thereof.

As much as I enjoy the more abstract storylines with an absent main cast, this is how I like Atlanta best. A bit slice of life, merely grounded in reality, but not entirely married to it, giving some German dork an idea what life in this city might be about.

Brillant acting and all around craftsmanship makes Atlanta a pleasure to watch and come back to. Having a series around this non flashy is simultaneous a privilege and a minor miracle.

air fryer, station and scavenger hunt

Warning: Spoilers
1. Darius gets chased by a lady in a scooter 2. Earn and Van get lost 3. Al goes on a scavenger hunt

Season 4 starts off strong with this episode. This is truly back to old form - the three friends being split equal screen time and them all coming back together. While the time in Europe was good, Atlanta does its best when it's set in Atlanta. The various misadventures of these lovable characters is what the audience wants to see and myself included. There were very surreal moments too like when Earn and Van seemed to be just running into people they had dated in the past. Maybe this was implying that even though they seem like they got back together, the past still dwells in their relationship. Whatever it means, I'm just glad to see all four of them back together in Atlanta. Things have changed since the last time we saw them so we will see how their adventure unfolds in this final season.

Earl Sweatshirt was Blueblood!

Hilariously silent

What a marvelous episode. I loved all the europe episodes because they still exported the afroamerican surrealism to the old continent, but it was time to go back baby!

Smart from start to finish. Hilariously silent, I would say. The Seinfeld refference on the parking lot was gold Jerry, gold!

This is one of the best 10 shows I´ve watched in the last 10 years, and man, I´ve watched a lot.

Good news is, Atlanta´s format allows this shows to last long for several, several seasons without loosing interest. Why? Because the creativity is the limit. When you are slave of a main plot, you are compelled to solve and make the characters to "evolve". We don´t want to have that here. We want everybody stay like they are...like the Seinfeld´s characters.
