Amazing but something feels off
ralfifresko10 December 2019
Warning: Spoilers
I don't know what it is but something feels off about the ending. Maybe it's just me being sad about it ending but I don't know.

I love the idea of Pied Piper failing, but I wish in the future Richard and the team should've been successful (rich) by coming up with something decent.

Also the Erlich tease was disappointing, I wish he made a cameo at the end instead of Jian Yang

Not the happy ending they got but an journey to remember

The finale was very unexpected. I expected an happy ending with Billions of dollars everyone makes. But turned out they created a monster. The show tells us how life is unfair and also how AI can destroy the future. Also, it ended on a cliffhanger whether the code got stolen or Richard misplaced it? PERFECT FINALE.

A perfect end to a hilarious comedy.

Warning: Spoilers
The best possible ending to one of the best shows that HBO has produced in the last years. Although we did not get to see an Erlich Bachman cameo, the producers of the show really kept it true to its roots and somehow gave the Silicon Valley an ending that it definitely deserves which a lot of shows don't manage to do (GOT).

A roller coaster of emotions
evanishei9 December 2019
That's honestly all I can say. I have never been both incredibly sad and happy for the characters of a TV show when it ended.

The finale that we deserved
tulsi-das-khan9 December 2019
That was 48 minutes of genius writing that I just watched and I still have tears in my eyes. The ending was bittersweet to say the least but what a roller-coaster of a ride right from the beginning of the episode. It was heart wrenching and hilarious at the same time. One of the best finale episode and my favorite episode personally from the whole series.

I couldn't ask for anything more

Silicon Valley has been one of my favorite shows ever since I started it, the hilarious cast, the amazing complex writing and the overall intelligence of the show. This finale hit hard, I felt happy and sad at the same time. I think that this is a perfect way to end a show, and I don't think I could have wanted anything else, okay maybe a proper TJ Miller cameo but I'll be okay. Loved it loved it loved it

The most surprising, yet exciting episode yet

The ending was something that I would have never expected, but it was exactly Silicon Valley style. Very sad to see the show go. Goodbye Silicon Valley

Always blue.

What an incredibly poignant series finale. I don't know why a couple of reviews said "the show should've ended seasons ago". I don't understand how the failure of Pied Piper could lead to the failure of the entire show. The show's message, which was obvious, was that no matter how talented you are, not everyone can succeed in doing what they want to do. Really wish they would've brought in Erlich for real, but nevertheless, a stunningly beautiful conclusion to the best American comedy I've ever seen.

5.2, folks, 5.2.

Showing how they started pied piper and how it ends, sure it's sad, however you can't help but feel happy about the ending, on how happy they all are. Great way for a final episode.... Let's hope we find out in the future where the flash drive is (hopefully a film)

One heck of a finale
waseefakhtar9 December 2019
Gosh, how do they even come up with such a finale? That was one heck of an ending! All those "10 years later" interviews looked exactly like a famous tech documentary. So intense and emotional!

A sad heartwarming finale
nabilemara9 December 2019
Warning: Spoilers
Usually when a comedy show tries to end it with a deep, sad end they really really mess it up, however, when jt comes to this finale they really did s good job. I can't really say that I wouldn't have rather to see the Pied Piper team win because I did, but, this finale presented us with the ultimate sad truth about the unlucky Richard Hendricks. It was a well made emotional finale that such an amazing show deserved.

Let it goooo!

Warning: Spoilers
I loved the show, loved the ending less. I liked the episode, but a missed chance. They had the perfect opportunity too! Instead of trusting Dinesh (totally unbelievable feel good crap anyway), they should have released piper net, let the world go to crap, let the documentary be a eulogy about the biggest tech warlords. Let Belson give some speech about tethics, let Bachmann live in some luxury cave and show the same underlying message: "with great tech comes great responsibility".

Original ending, but not good enough for a genius show like this.

Not great, not terrible, just depressing.

Warning: Spoilers
And quite a lot. After five seasons of awesome eucatastrophical endings with a final, unexpected recovery and outstanding comedy (though this had become less so since TJ Miller left) we get this 10-year afterwards mockumentary that for the most part only denigrates the characters. They fail, get no recognition whatsoever (despite doing the right thing, allegedly), and end up with rather miserable careers that fundamentally go against their past selves.

It could surely have been a better and happier (for some reason now everything has to be poignant and tragic in prestige TV) ending, if only they had bothered to allow them to get some recognition for whatever it is they invented or to be acquired by Laurie Bream (which would have explained why she was in prison) at the last moment.

But no, it all ends with Richard--now Belsonian professor for Tethics--pathetically looking for a pen drive, failing again in this as with everything else he ever did.

Embrace the reality
comendantdinu9 December 2021
The series hit close to home for me since I also had a startup which it ultimately failed. Although the ending was sad, I loved it. In the past few years entrepreneurship has become very popular. Pretty much every young person that I know wants to become an entrepreneur because social media has created this bubble that makes you believe you can become the next Elon Musk. I'm pretty sure that many people saw these series as an inspiration and motivation. The reality though is very much different and I liked that Silicon Valley sticked to it. After all, 95% of businesses fail, and unfortunately Pied Piper was one of them.

Amazing, unexpected finale.

Every minute of the final episode finds you filled with suspense and expectation. For sure, a bittersweet end to a great story. Personally, my favorite episode in the season. They missed the cherry on the cake, though: no Erlich cameo. Can't say the same for Erich.

Fitting end to this show, slightly depressing.

Warning: Spoilers
The pied piper gang constantly failed (often upward) by influences outside their control, so this ending was true to the show. Bittersweet but it would feel wrong if the writers gave us a happy ending uncharacteristic to the show.

Not many shows end this well

I was genuinely moved by this episode. The best compliment I give the writers is that they ended a truly great show on a par with The Sopranos. Thank you

NOPE
Junaidinam10 December 2019
Warning: Spoilers
What the hell is wrong with HBO, ending these great series with horrible finales. The series has seen so many ups and down for the past six years which I get it were put in there to keep the plot interesting but these characters and we as viewers deserved a better ending. If the company went 8 billion to 0, how did Erlich's money survived which I suppose is taken over by Jing Yang. Apart from that the writing on this show has been revolving around the idea of one failure after the other, we need a break from that in shape of a good finale where Pied Piper is a successful company and they could still do the documentary thing with characters telling stories for the past ten years... 😑

The tribute to the late Peter Gregory was great. But overall this was an unsatisfactory ending.
fabrcsakai6 April 2020
I feel the need of modern shows to "stay off the cliche" or "go for the most unpredictable ending" is getting tiring.

-

I don't think the overall construction of the ending was bad. Of course, there's an imaginative element to the realism portrayed in the computer side of things. But this isn't nothing new in the TV show, if anything maybe it was the only thing consistent throughout the seasons.

But just because the structure was good doesn't means the ending was - like an arrow throwed with good technique but bad precision to the target.

The ending was waay to melancholic. This was really better than Pied Piper ending as another Hooli? Sometimes, I miss the "fairy tales endings" - although predictable, they were better than "risk everything or go for nothing" endings.

Another bad point imo was the way they teased us with Erlich coming back. But guess what? It was Jian Yang all along. Nah. He was an important part of the story (despite the *sshole he was or is in real life), and many people were still atached to his character.
