A strong conclusion
Sleepin_Dragon18 July 2018
Part one was good, if a little heavy, and a lot depressing. The conclusion is ultimately more satisfying, with all the lose ends tied up, and some excellent performances.

The side story was also much more interesting, as it was given time, and I suppose the shock had sunken in.

Gaminara once again was the star of the show, Leo's character transformed from beige to tortured soul. We sure learned a lot more about him, the lengths he's prepared to go to.

Some of it stretched the imagination, but it made for good telly. 8/10

The Tangled Web

The participants in the identity theft ring don't fare too well, but it's much more complicated than that. Leo continues his assault on the police form of justice. What is quite interesting is how some of our laws don't really give justice to accidental deaths, even when the accident is caused by serious carelessness. If there is a transitional period here, Leo is going to be a on a powder keg for a while.

Convoluted & Degrading
Johnny_West25 November 2022
The story is incredibly convoluted and stretches the web of credibility. As some kind of impossible mystery, at least it ties together at the end, so you can feel like the mystery was solved.

The highly annoying Jack Deam is the main villain in this episode. Jack Deam also plays the nasty inspector on Father Brown.

There is another surprise villain at the end, which just makes the whole story more unbelievable. Even less credible when Leo states that the mystery villain is going to prison for four years, in spite of no evidence. Apparently the writers wanted to deliver the feeling that Justice was served.

Besides the bogus story about identity theft, the main issue is that Leo's family is killed by a bad driver who turns out to be connected to the identity theft investigation. As totally unlikely as that is, Leo becomes the only person capable of infiltrating the gang and getting the evidence together.

Leo Dalton is played by William Gaminera, and he is hard to watch. He is usually talking down to and verbally abusing his staff. So when his family dies and he gets extra-nasty, it is hard to notice the difference. I just fast forward through most of his scenes, and especially the boring therapy scenes where he explains to his therapist what a jerk he was in the scenes that just ended. Just ponderously boring.

I never liked Amanda Burton, who also played the character like brutally rude diva, but Leo Dalton is the same character as Sam Ryan. I guess the writers only know how to write rude, obnoxious, arrogant, verbally abusive coroners?
