Zbig Rybczynski is a Polish filmmaker who made a lot of odd experimental art films in the 1970s and 80s. They are certainly NOT what the average person would watch or enjoy but apparently the Oscar folks loved one of his films and gave "Tango" (1980) the award for Best Animated Short. But, as I mentioned, it's not the sort of stuff most folks would or could enjoy. But, it is, in some cases, quite clever. Take the case of "Zupa". While it's just about impossible to truly describe the film, it is amazingly different and will catch your attention--even if it is an art film. It consists of film that is colored in very bright colors (such as red people and blue backgrounds). I assume he either hand-colored it or, more likely, dyed film various colors and then overlapped them. All I know is that it sure was unusual and captured my attention even if the things shown in the film are very mundane in nature. You've just gotta see this one...and if you love art films, you'll love this.
Oh, and by the way, it was kind of funny when I watched the film. I didn't realize there'd be a lot of topless ladies in the movie and a friend walked in to see what I was watching. It was pretty funny as they watched and felt very confused.
