Plot inside Plot
larapha14 January 2017
The shadows start with a plot well defined. A famous writer says he will finish his novel in two weeks. The problem is the first page, and he is blocked to go on. He searches for inspiration in a night ride, finishing by crossing over a guy. There things begin to get more mysterious when the ran over has the same surname of the writer. Who then reveals that is not his real name. From now on, we don't know where the plot of the film is and what is the plot of the novel he's writing. The film is dynamic, with constant turns-over between the reality of the film and that of the novel. It's well enacted. He gets involved with the boy, or is it his shadow. He loses all he has… to his shadow? It's not an easy film to watch, I myself had to watch it twice to get my idea of the film, but I think it worthies a try.

Total Nihilism
jromanbaker19 April 2020
The first part of the film is watchable, and coherent. A man ( bisexual ? ) trying to finish a thriller/horror novel. Then certain people move into his life and identity or even existence seems to be put into question. End of spoilers, and anyway the total nihilism of these new creatures of the night, as Bela Lugosi in the film ' Dracula ' put it. who take over end all narrative clarity. It has homosexual sex in it, but in the context of the film appeared irrelevant. It is what I call a Post-Nothingness film and I give it a 2 as some young or old juveniles could well want to write a thesis on it. There are many Universities of the absurd out there, and as our society falls apart they may well proliferate. I say good luck to the Shadows that will if possible overwhelm us.

Joe Lia needs to do more of this.

Warning: Spoilers
Joe Lia has created a masterpiece that not many people know about. I stumbled on to it searching Amazon Prime. If every movie with Gay subplots were this quality , sadly there are very few. This movie has some serious Hitchcock-esque twists. There is even a billboard cameo of a book jacket that ties up some strings. This is plot within plot at its best. Mr Lia , IO know your full time gig keeps you busy. Seriously, do it again. I even have a few ideas that would be awesome to see what you would do with it.
