Warning: Spoilers
'Holiday' is one of the best episodes of 'Rab C. Nesbitt' and is generally regarded as many fans' favourite. It is not my favourite all time episode but it is definitely up there among the greats.

Mary is depressed at the constant knocks on the door from the baliffs however her luck changes when her and the family are awarded a luxury two week break in Benidorm as a prize in an oven chips competition. Jamesie and Ella go along too. Feeling he should get into the holiday spirit, Rab purchases himself a rather hideous pair of Bermuda trousers but they make him look a right wally. On the beach, Jamesie lathers himself in suntan oil however the only thing he catches is sunstroke. Meanwhile, Gash and Burney appear to be getting friendly with a couple of sexy girls.

'Holiday' is a fantastic finale to the first series of 'Rab C. Nesbitt'. Taking the characters out of their normal confines makes a refreshing change from the norm and it was nice to see them getting a taste of the high life for just a short time. Unlike some sitcoms that are set abroad such as 'Duty Free', 'Don't Drink The Water' or even the movie adaptation of 'Are You Being Served?' ( all of which were filmed in a studio ), this episode was shot entirely on location in Fuengirola, though had 'Rab C.' been an ITV show, for budgetary reasons I suspect this may not have been the case.

Perhaps the most fondly remembered moment ( and not without good reason ) of all in this episode is when Rab, after a stirring speech about how he feels like an outcast, he meets his Spanish doppelganger ranting at the moon. After a moments embracing with his doppelganger, he remarks to the audience: ''there's nothing that restores your faith more in human nature than meeting some poor bastard that's just as mad as yourself!''.

Quite an impressive supporting cast here. Kate Donnelly and Louise Beattie ( both of whom have appeared in 'Naked Video' ) play Gash and Burney's girlfriends. Donnelly appeared in two further episodes - 'Life Has Meaning' from series two and 'Lottery' from series five. Beattie's only other 'Nesbitt' appearance was in the series seven instalment 'Community' as a news correspondent. Jonathan Watson, another 'Naked Video' veteran, crops up here as the oven chips rep who presents the Nesbitts with their holiday prize. Continuity announcer and television presenter Paul Coia plays Andy, the holiday rep whose annoying ''Are we all bright eyed and bushy tailed this morning?'' catchphrase makes you want to strangle him!

Funniest moment? Yes, you guessed it! It would have to be Rab meeting his Spanish doppelganger.
