I do remember the Johnny Ringo western series from my youth even though it did last only for a season. Watching this Zane Grey Theater story it reminded me that it was produced by Four Star Television.
The real Johnny Ringo was a mean and murderous individual. But here and in the series Don Durant plays him as a weary gunfighter who takes the job of sheriff of a small Arizona town because what else does he know? In this town the bad element all congregate at the saloon owned and run by Scott Forbes. You know that's where the showdown will be.
The roles that are played here by Thomas Mitchell and Marilyn Erskine were recast in the television series by Terence DeMarney and Karen Sharpe.
Nice half hour television pilot, shame the series didn't last longer.
