Most of you who grew up in the 80's and even in the 90's saw many fire prevention episodes. One or more shows would have these shows usually in October which I believe was fire prevention month. We saw Webster, Love Sidney, Cheers and other experience catastrophic fires in their shows. This one really got me, maybe too much. I was about 10 years old when this episode came out and I don't think I went right to sleep at night for a very long time after viewing this episode. I may have been slightly scarred from this episode but this was a time when television attempted to educate even if only a few episodes a season. They always had the PSA at the end kind of giving the viewers warnings about fire safety were great.

Yet Another Tragedy for the Hogans
kgraovac23 December 2023
A fire in the attic destroys the Hogans' home, and they stay with the Pooles while dealing with the aftermath.
This is another serious episode that packs a much bigger wallop than the Season premiere. The sequence of David driving towards the house then running to find his family has an almost cinematic quality to it worthy of a theatrical film. It's Jason Bateman's best performance yet in the series when we see David weeping over his charred bedroom and belongings. He is definitely the MVP in this one.
This is Willard Scott's first of five appearances as Mr. Poole. The episode has some laughs from him and Edie McClurg to lighten the mood a bit. We see them in square dancing outfits and learn that they sometimes play Twister in their underwear!
Valerie's death is mentioned in the script.
Obviously not a happy episode, but definitely an essential one. 9/10.
