Didn't they have enough makeup for Robert morse? You can see the difference between his face and his neck. He looks like a mime with bad grease paint True he's not much to look at anyway, but they could have did a better job.

Intended to be comical
imdb-2021215 September 2020
This episode is a little campy and goofy, but it's obviously done on purpose. Bearing that in mind, I found it somewhat enjoyable. Even the little "travel montage" scene, silly as it was, made me laugh. It was meant to be cheesy.

Some other reviews rag on this episode as an example of how the show declined in quality in the later years, but it's worth pointing out that this episode was actually filmed much earlier than the "1984" date shown. I'd say it was filmed no later than 1981 based on the fact that the lead actress died that year.

It's not hard to find examples of garbage episodes earlier in the show's run... every season had its ups and downs. For me, this "season 7" (in quotes) episode was one of the better ones just because it was so goofy.

$2.50 budget?

The US episodes of Tales are hard to recognise to the far superior earlier UK shows. This one is particularly low budget. It's hard to imagine any money being thrown at it at all. I liked the ending though and is the best US episode of this season so far.

Warning: Spoilers
I discovered this TV show a couple of months ago. I love it. It reminds me Alfred Hitchcock Presents one, and I think it matches it. No problem. Very inventive, thrilling, with nearly always very good twist endings. Although I agree that all episodes are not one the very same scale. Some are good, perfect, some are let's say less...But I am overall satisfied with this TV show, which lived nearly ten years long.

This episode, which has not been commented yet, is a perfect example of what I talk about some lines above. It begins like some sort of a comedy, but finishes in the total black humour and I would say tragedy.

I won't tell you in detail, in order not to spoil this little gem, but trust me, it's worth. Many stories of this TV series were not around the criminal scheme. Some of them were without murders or horror sequences; only more or less intelligent ideas. Not common at all.

At least this was meant to be funny

At least this episode was meant to be funny, so many others are just funny because they're bad. Released in 1984 when GG died in 1981 so this beauty must have been gathering dust on some film companies shelf.

Was the budget actually more then five dollars?

Olivia is married to the wealthy Stephen Shaw, she has a young lover Stephen, the pair plan a fatal accident for her husband.

Why on Earth did they shift the vast amount of production from the UK to the US? It can't really be argued with that when they did the quality of the show physically nose dived.

This is another perfect example of how dire this show had become, these latter episodes are unbearable, absolute trash. I'll say it again, only die hard fans of Tales of the Unexpected could find this even remotely watchable.

It is now sending itself up, when comparing this to an earlier episode you begin to wonder why they carried on, they should have ended this after Series Six. The stock photos add to the overall cheapness, over enhancing the lack of budget.

It gets three stars instead of one, because at least the ending is rather amusing.

3/10.

Warning: Spoilers
Seriously now, how stupid can two people be? Olivia (Gloria Grahame) and Stephen Shaw (Robert Morse) both knew there was no safety bar on the inside of the frozen food locker, and STILL, they managed to get themselves locked inside. At the very least, wouldn't you have put some sort of door block at the entrance so you couldn't accidentally trap yourself? That would be my first thought. Anyway, it seems they both got what they deserved for being the petty couple they appeared to be. This after a series of comically rendered situations in which each was trying to knock off the other. Robert Morse somehow always bothered me as an actor, can't put my finger on it, but he just annoys me, and doubly so here. Gloria Grahame also portrayed a character that was hard to warm up to opposite a maniacal Humphrey Bogart in the 1950 noir murder mystery, "In a Lonely Place". In that one, there was always a veneer of caution and distrust about her character, made more ominous by the revelation that she was on the run from a former boyfriend. She obviously should have run from this one too.

This was shown in the UK 1982 not 1984 it was Gloria Grahame's last roll as she died October 1981, As with all Tales of the unexpected shows another great story with a very talented actress.

Gloria Grahame

As far as I can tell Gloria Grahame had been dead for three years when this came out. Either it had been on the shelf for a long time or the wrong actor is credited. I have never seen this or any other episode of Tales of the Unexpected, but I doubt if the real actor minds the error. While it is possible to correct entries on IMDb, as I do not have the correct information I can't do it. If anyone knows, perhaps they can fix it.
