Another bride

Good minder episode with some very good scenes involving a wedding in Arthur's family and some rather dodgy magazines. A few thugs thrown in and a typical fight scene at the end in a paper mill. Notable for an appearance of Arthur's wife 'er indoors ' in the church scenes , it isn't mentioned but is obviously his wife from the small scene we see.

Frantic Daley is funny Daley
Arthur's niece is getting married in a big church on Saturday. He hires the limo and asks Terry to be the driver. Same time, he's made a deal to shift some adult reading material, which needs to be picked up the same morning of the wedding.

Daley is frantically trying to keep all the balls in the air. And of course Terry McCann's right in the middle of it all.

Along for the ride is a bent copper. And a car full of thugs. Or are they.

George Cole gets many great lines and he delivers every one like a champ. Terry gets in an entertaining fight. And the episode's ''bad guy" is the ''twist ending," so to speak.

From beginning to end this is classic Minder.

The funniest Minder ever?

Mere words cannot describe the absolute perfection of this episode. Every budding writer of TV comedy/drama should watch this episode to learn how things should be done.

Along with The Sweeney episode "Messenger of the Gods", which Dennis Waterman appeared in, this is one of my all time favourite TV moments.

Euston Films made some of the best shows of this era, for me the only mistake they made, was to continue with Minder after Dennis Waterman left the show. It had run for a number of years and had probably passed it's sell by date anyway. The less said about the much later effort featuring Shane Richie the better.

Just about perfect.

I always liked early Minder the most; the first three series were made pre the Falklands War and Yuppies, when you still had one pound notes, ice cream vans, and only three channels on telly.

Series 3 is the gift that keeps on giving - almost every episode a gem - and this one is positively bursting with delights including a classic George Cole drunk scene, Arthur and Terry finding a novel way to shift "Swedish literature", Warren Clarke as a bent copper, a wedding that descends into chaos, and the obligatory Terry punch up. The freeze framing of Arthur Daley is the perfect ending to a just about perfect episode, which had even the late, great Clive James singing its praises.

Another Bride, Another Groom

Warning: Spoilers
Arthur has arranged a limousine for his niece's wedding to a northerner.

It is left to Terry to pick up some erotic books and get the bride to the church on time.

It just happens that the books turn out to be mucky magazines that seem to have been purloined.

Now some people are giving chase and there is a corrupt copper who is shaking down Arthur.

I expected Charlie Endell from Budgie to pop up in this one. I then remembered that the story was similar to an episode of Budgie.

The magazines were seized by the police and were meant to be pulped before they were lifted.

Terry gets to have a nice tough fight with the henchman who worked for the paper recycler. Unusually the villain of the piece is Arthur and his associates as well as the dodgy copper.
