An ex-cop is found shot, inside a dumpster. Soon they find the murder scene on the streets. When Brandtner and Rex arrive at the scene, Kuntz identifies the victim to be his former partner. Devastated from the news, he is depressed. Nothing is what it seems. When Brandtner and Rex investigate, they soon find evidence to assume that an old acquaintance of the victim, who was presumed to be dead, is still alive and may have something to do with this case. When they find the "dead" mans hotel room, only to find a dead lead.
