I'd love tho know what happened that Lynda Carter is not is this episode. Was this the real pilot for the original version of this show? It certainly seems like it. The character Sarah plays is the exact same lead role as Elizabeth, including doing some narration and being Hawkeye's would be love interest. Lee Horsely's hair is somehow slightly different also. I can only think think this episode was made much earlier than the rest of the show, then it got was recast and slightly rewritten. All they had to do later to still run this episode was add Hawkeye's voiceover at the end saying Sarah moved away after this.
The rest of the episode is so well done and elaborate, with a large cast, I supposed they didn't want to reshoot it with Lynda instead. No offense to the actress playing Sarah, but Lynda is a much better choice. I think they also made a better choice having Elizabeth run the store instead of the tavern as well, as far as potential storylines.
Love getting to see Lorne Cardinal from Corner Gas in an early role as North Wind's brother. Obviously this show is not A list tv or period accurate, but they do seem like they tried their best, with a very small budget no less. And they were definitely trying hard to be progressive and sensitive to First Nation issues for the 90s. I have a lot affection for this show.
