This is a rather tense episode that has plenty of creepy and dark atmosphere with a killer who is equally creepy. The radio airplay announcement was probably based from the Yorkshire Ripper case which occurred a few years earlier. It's well acted by Glynis Barber, who as Makepeace is disturbed by these murders.

Out of Darkness

It certainly is a dark episode. A man is abducting women and then leaving them for dead.
A serial killer in the making and he is toying with the police.
Dempsey and Makepeace are on the case and the killer takes an interest in Makepeace. She reminds the killer of someone close to him.
There is some cod psychology. Only Makepeace seems to be bothered about the female victims.
It still has a lot of atmospheric creepiness.
