Howard Gets a Lot of Screen Time
Hitchcoc7 January 2020
When a member of the bowling team has to leave town, a grudge match with some guys from Mount Pilot is in jeopardy. They try hard to get a third person. Howard Sprague volunteers but they shut him down. Little did they know that the guy can bowl. The show is about other circumstances, however. A decent episode.

Characters have their classic personas
vitoscotti21 August 2022
No messing around with characters to fit a script. All the regular actors play their original themes. Andy the intermediary, Howard the outsider, Emmett the whiner, Goober the imbecile, Opie the pest, Bee the worrier. A wiity script. Strong introduction of Emmett Clark (Paul Hartman). Opie's odds are 30x too high. Why would the Mt Pilot team volunteer to give Mayberry odds without any negotiation? Opie gets a lot of milage out of the green and orange shirt. Howard (Jack Dodson) appeared to have the best bowling form. Andy, Goober, and the Mt Pilot team looked like novices. No one though had a big hook needed to get pin action to be a truly good bowler.
