Another one of those movies...

you know the ones about the immigrant experience. Only in this one, they try to poke fun at it a little bit but there are some serious dilemmas at hand. Okay, a down-on-his-luck taxi cab driver meets a former hotel clerk (played by Anupam Kher) and together their alternate their bad luck experiences as they try to get through life as NRIs living in the US. The Cabby is having an affair with his land-lady's daughter but he is also going through a divorce back home in India, when his girlfriend finds out about this, she breaks up with him. The former hotel clerk, can't hold down a job, and neither can he seem to fight off the advances of an Italian/Indian/Spanish young beauty who wants to sink her hooks into him. Too bad he has a wife and kids back home in India. One day, through the links of the cabby's uncle both men meet an Indian superstar visiting the US on assignment (Played by Johnny Lever) and their adventures with him lead to the ultimate test of loyalties, friendship and brotherhood and not to mention, the establishment of what the title of this film 'Banana Brothers' is all about in the first place. It's kinda dated, but the songs are nice. The film was shot in English but Hindi is interjected here and there, and there are also subtitles if you require them.

Incredible Movie, Must See for DESI's

If you are in US and a DESI, you can very well understand this movie. I like it, music is awesome.... Anupam Kher just as ever incredible actor and the new guy Baldev acted as a true Punju (no doubt) he is a Punjabi..Very well directed. Must See especially for students who came to US...in the late 90s because this is time frame when the movie was shot too!! This movie wouldn't have much of appeal for H1b holders because the struggle isn't applicable to them...so they might not understand it well...Overall movie had perfect timing and music to come out really well. All the supporting team has done an incredible work as well....
