Fine documentary but too short-sighted and the ending is obvious

It's undeniable the mysticism and mistery the great RMS Titanic has on curious hearts and minds. After sinking in 1912 after colliding with an iceberg and killing hundreds of people and leaving certain survivors. In between 1912 and the early 1980's the search for the ship Remains was a mythical challenge that baffled and intrigued treasure hunters and curious people in seeing how were the conditions of the "unsinkable" ship and if it was possible to bring it back to the surface. All that was known was that she was lost in the Atlantic North.

Several expeditions were made and this one was done in the wake of box-office bomb "Raise the Titanic" (1980), which theorized a Cold War battle for bringing the ship back. This documentary narrated by Orson Welles covers one of those grand expeditions that were trying to locate the Titanic.

It's quite an adventure and very informative about the technology and equipments used back in 81 but for those who know about Robert Ballard successive expedition in 1985 that finally found the ship this film is sort of a let down because the ship won't be found here. More information about the Titanic could be used to give more context to people who aren't so acquainted with the vessel story. To Titanic buffs it contains little information about the ship and it's mostly about the process in finding the Titanic. It's a good project but it only benefits those who don't know much about the 1985 finding. 6/10
