nice comedy
sharankandhai25 June 2007
You would never even think it with title like this but this is actually a very good comedy mainly due to Rishi Kapoor. The story is about two brothers (Rishi Kapoor and Jeetendra) and their friend Rajnikant. Rajni is a inspector, Jeetendra a doctor and Rishi a lawyer. One day Rajnis wife -Poonam Dhillon- gets raped but Jeetendra rescues her. They don't tell Rajni anything. Rajni is after Jeetendra for some reason orso and Rishi tries to save them. That's the story but Rishi Kapoor saves the movie and it is always good to see Rajnikant in a Hindi movie. Pran as the father of Jeetu and Rishi is also good. Once again, if you want to see a nice comedy, watch this one

Routine multi starcast actioner with a cringy rape.

Dosti Dushmani review:

Noted South director T. Rama Rao's foray in to Bollywood production; Dosti Dushmani was a staple '80s multistarrer where three childhood buddies grow up to become a doctor (Jeetendra), a lawyer (Rishi Kapoor) and a police inspector (Rajnikanth) with a common enemy (Amrish Puri) to fight. Puri gets the cop's wife (Poonam Dhillon) raped and video-filmed to blackmail them later..

Rishi Kapoor joined the south bandwagon with jumping jack Jeetu and Rajini Sir to form the heroic trio here. Bhanupriya, Poonam and Kimi Katkar played their love interests. There was a shocking rape scene filmed on Poonam and Gurbachan Singh which somehow escaped the censors scissors. Wonder how these scenes would get passed then...

Bhanupriya was introduced opposite Jeetu and she was promoted as the next Sridevi by movie mags of that time. Incidentally, Sridevi was the first choice for her role but acted pricey. Surprisingly, the south production regulars Kader Khan and Shakti Kapoor appeared only in special appearances here as Amrish Puri's Singapore wale partners in crime.

Dosti Dushmani was a modest hit of 1986 which was otherwise a lean year for Bollywood with more flops than hits. The fact that it came during Diwali helped its collections considerably. Watch it to understand what 80's masala cinema was all about!!

Regards, Sumeet Nadkarni.

It is 100% entertaining movie can be watchable many times Jeetendra is in lead role while Rishi & Rajini on supporting roles I like the scene where Rajni installed hidden camera to shoot the wedding night to reveal the truth but Jeetendra find the camera & make fool to Rajni & the next morning to the wedding night Jeetendra says to Rajini you have not slept last night watching blue films Jeetendra act wonderful in the entire movie specially in emotional scenes as well as action too, Rishi is good in comedy, Rajni too good.It was a successful movie of 1986, It is Bahnu Priya's 1st movie in Hindi, Jeetendra looks so young as usual in all his movies.
