The best part of this show was Stephen Moyer, but he is only a guest one time.
Second best is the police officer sidekick to Elsbeth. Carra Patterson plays a sort of chaperone to Elsbeth. Since Elsbeth has no police credentials, it is up to Carra to get her past the yellow tape. Carra has a nice easy going character that balances out the obnoxious character of Elsbeth.
Carrie Preston does an admirable job of being the smart detective lawyer. However, it is really hard to be Colombo and Carol Burnett. Or perhaps it is like watching Carol Burnett playing Colombo if we were still in the 1970s.
The show is entertaining for a while, and mostly thanks to Stephen Moyer having great chemistry with Carrie Preston. They worked together on True Blood, and it is clear to see how much fun they have in their scenes. If he were a regular member of the cast, I would watch it.
