Wasn't that pumped for this movie but I checked it out and I ended up liking it.
The animation is not that bold or anything, it's decent. My favorite part of the animation is when the background changes from light to dark in a chemical blending texture and the buildings change from lights off to lights on. But the backgrounds along with the city buildings changing was the best part of the animation. The coloring of the animation looks beautiful.
Very unique character designs, Dark and the other entities. Dark and the other entities are pretty interesting characters, they represent nighttime occurrence such as the dark, falling asleep, anxiety, nighttime noises and silence, and dreams. It was very creative, funny, interesting, and well executed characters.
Orion is a boy who we understand what his problems are and how he confronts it. He's afraid of everything but mostly of the dark and throughout the whole movie, him and the dark get along. The dark is also unrelated to his other fears he has, so my only issue is that I don't understand how the dark helped him confront his fear with everything else.
The story is very well done and interesting. It took me by surprised of how it was gonna result in. Looking at the trailer, I understand what the movie will be about and kind of gave it all but there's lots of surprises in here that got me by surprise.
A clear plot of a boy and the dark entity to a time travel introduction where we see the future and Orion meets his future family that travel on his way to help him. I think it was a crazy and interesting thing to include in this movie.
I think the voice casting is good. My most favorite voice performer is Ike Barinholts as Light, his voice is wonderful and fun as the character he plays.
So far. I enjoyed this movie and found it entertaining, good looking and great story. Everything this movie does or shows is very great. Does everything better than what Disney or Pixar does now a days. This is how you make something fun and creative.
