Perhaps the most beautiful looking of all the animations made by Ishu Patel, featuring a rather gorgeous depiction of nature and birds in a simple, but meaningful fable about the value of freedom, with each one of its scenes being a delight for the eyes.
The only thing I'm not really sure about was the soundtrack. Maybe it's because its modern association with the first Kill Bill movie, but for some reason, The lonely shepherd by Gheorghe Zamfir felt totally out of place here, though I didn't mind very much.
How did Charade by John Minnis ended winning the Academy Award for best animated short that year? That short was nowhere as good as this one, being just an average joke that overstays its welcome in less than 4 minutes.
Paradise should have been the winner.
8.5/10.
