Maestro (2023)
7/10
Musically tremendous, exaggerated by Bradley Cooper in every aspect
23 January 2024
The highly acclaimed film about Leonard Bernstein. I have to be honest, I didn't know much about Bernstein and his life before looking into the film, so perhaps many people were dissatisfied with what was shown or not, but it didn't affect me personally.

I think the film falls short, because it is difficult to cover the entire life of an important figure in just over two hours and Bradley Cooper takes long, long scenes to become an epic figure in front of the camera.

But I still really enjoyed the performances, from Cooper and especially Carey Mulligan's role as Felicia Montealegre. Like I said, I'm not deep into Bernstein's personal life, so for me it was almost like watching a completely original movie and in my case, it worked.
