In My Old Man, an unlucky horse trainer, Frank Butler, wins big at the track and buys his 16-year old daughter a horse to salvage their relationship. When frank is hurt prior to the opening race, Jo must go it alone.
Despite some of the seedy characters and the setting given, I found it to be a down to earth, realistic, wholesome and endearing film. Though hundreds of people not knowing the difference between a well-known male jockey and an unfamiliar female jockey at the end isn't so realistic, along with requiring the correct weight. Kristy McNichol's a terrific main actress and I really appreciated how the Marie character's written, as with most of it, as detail is everything to me.
