Not the adaption we expected, but the Sequel we needed(light spoilers)

Warning: Spoilers
I won't spoil more about the plot but go into this thinking of it as a sequel to the movie and you will enjoy it. It is not a straight adaption all though episode 1 would have you believing that. (Also I'll preface the review by saying I've never read the graphic novels.)

The cast is probably my biggest gripe about the show as it's evident some of them have never done voice work before. Particularly when it comes to Scott, he felt a bit flat and often I couldn't feel the emotion to him but I'm also not a huge fan of Cera so take from that what you will. That being said I really enjoyed the characters themselves and the directions they took. It really went out of it's way to flesh out more to all the characters that we never spent time with in the movie. Giving the evil exes more depth, showing more to their relationships with romana as well as their own stories was a great decision. Romana herself was also way better performance wise then she was in the movie. She felt way too cold and flat back then and now she actually felt like a character who all these people would want to date. She laughed, smiled, cared and didn't just randomly go called in the middle of the plot it was great and made her a much more likable character.

The animation, music, the comedy bits and setting all draw you into this story and paint a beautiful picture of romance. Which is worth watching if you liked the original movie and want something that expands on that world. If you never saw the movie, the show does a fairly good job of explaining the events of it at one point so it's good for new comers to this fandom too!
