Review of Chupa

Chupa (2023)
5/10
Okay family film

First, I can understand why some people might not be particularly fascinated with this film, but giving it a 1-star review is ridiculous. You people need to go back to your adrenaline flicks and leave the family films to those who appreciate them.

As a clean family film this is fine. It will keep children entertained, and that's all it's really meant to do.

Adults will quickly realize the plot is as cliche as they come, from beginning to fly-toward-the-camera end. Seriously, there's not an original moment or thought in this entire film.

It does teach a bit about acceptance of other cultures and I'll grant them that. But beyond that, this entire film has been done before, many many times, and better. Of course the CGI was okay and the actors and directing were good. But seriously, did the writers have a single original thought in their heads as they put this together?

So I can only give it a mediocre 5 stars... and it seems like the majority of viewers agree, since this has an average of 5.5 stars as of this writing. This is an okay kid's film, but could have used a whole lot more originality.
