"THE YELLOW BIRDS" REVIEW

Directed by Alexandre Moors. A runtime of one hour and thirty-four minutes. Streaming on Netflix with an R rating.

During the Iraq war, two young soldiers become friends. "Brandon Bartle" played by Alden Ehrenreich and "Daniel Murphy" played by Tye Sheridan. "Bartle" a little older than "Murphy" took him under his wing. Their sergeant, "Sergeant Sterling" played by Jack Huston a little older than "Bartle". Took both of them under his wing.

Before leaving for Iraq "Bartle" made a promise to "Murphys" mom "Maureen" played by Jennifer Aniston. Something he took to heart because he didn't even see his mom "Amy" played by Toni Collette before being deployed.

What started as the little brother "Bartle" never wanted to be turned into a true brotherly bond. But the Iraq war is harsh on the body and mind. Something their sergeant knew all too well.

After returning home no one was the same. You see "Bartle" get eaten up by his inner demons. As well as having the hardest time dealing with a promise he told "Maureen" before they left. In this sobering war film.

"The Yellow Birds" was a good film. It had a good cast that fit their roles perfectly. The story kept you entertained. The only thing was they had a secret throughout the whole film. Many things happened because of this secret which started to frustrate you because you're like what the hell happened for all these things to conspire from it?

But when you find out you're like wow. That was deep. This film had a good storyline. It was more of a drama with a war background than an actual war film. If this was a true story I wouldn't haven't been surprised. In the end, it wasn't but that's how well it was written and executed. I give this film four mor fires 🔥🔥🔥🔥 #CosmoandtheMovieWithin #CosmoMovieBlog #CosmoLanier #TheYellowBirds.
