I really wanted to like this. I was hoping for something cheesy, fun family movie night goodness. This was dumb, with wooden acting and all the laughs are in the trailer and they're sparse at best. But the most ANNOYING part for me?
The racial jokes. They're not even funny or appropriate. And confusing for my kids because we would never talk like that. They say "crazy white woman" and "black man" several times. Like, we get it. You're a black family from Brooklyn moving to the burbs and this quaint town couldn't have possibly ever met a black family before? It's so cringey.
I miss John Hughes. He could have made a great Halloween movie that was like home alone or even Christmas vacation. This was lazy garbage. Don't waste your time.
