Carrie neighborhood
24 September 2022
Mae (Madeleine Arthur) escapes from a reclusive farming community in Ohio. Hospital psychiatrist Dr. Suzanne Mathis (Emily Deschanel) starts working with her. She moves in with the Mathis family. Suzanne and her husband Peter Mathis (Sam Jaeger) have three daughters. Helen (Alisha Newton) is the popular oldest daughter. Middle child Jules (Xaria Dotson) becomes Mae's best friend. Dani is the adopted youngest daughter. Detective Lopez (Gerardo Celasco) investigates Mae and her mysterious community.

This is an 8-part limited Netflix series. There are lots of references to Carrie. I wouldn't mind borrowing one more thing from Carrie. This needs a bit of supernatural injected into its story. I like the crows, but the show stops short. I was expecting the fire to go off at the dance. The Carrie vibe is strong in this show, but it always pulls back from that. There is an intriguing twist reveal at the end. That could be done earlier, and have it do something more. As it stands, it's a cliffhanger that is unlikely to go anywhere. I doubt that we're having a second season. I've never read the book. Maybe there is more to the story and it's planning to continue.
