The Bunker (1981 TV Movie)
7/10
Hopkins excellent, however...

Hopkins is always worth watching and this is no exception. I can't rate it more highly because the performances of the rest of the cast often lack realism.

Richard Jordan's Speer is too nice, as other reviewers have noted. Michael Lonsdale as Bormann looks too dark, he would have made a convincing Leonard Brezhnev. Michael Sheard as Himmler is too good looking, though to be fair almost everyone is. Worst is Cliff Gorman's Goebbels, played sans limp but with a pronounced American accent. I almost expected him to exclaim sieg heil y'all.

Others compare The Bunker with Downfall and Hitler: The Last Ten Days. I'd also tip The Hitler Gang (1944) for more lifelike portrayals, though obviously covering an earlier period.
