The Garden (I) (2006)
Watch Out For That Tree...

Warning: Spoilers
THE GARDEN is an allegory with religious imagery and symbolism. It's also a pretty good horror movie.

Lance Henriksen plays an old farmer named Ben Zachary. A young boy named Sam (Adam Taylor Gordon) and his dad (Brian Wimmer) are stranded on Ben's farm after a terrible accident.

Ben has a tree on his land that bears some particularly important fruit. He spends most of his time tempting Sam's recovering-alcoholic dad with booze, as well as some rather hot women. Ben also torments Sam and commits various acts of deviltry.

Sam soon sees through Ben's rather thin facade, and tries to convince dad that he's not what he appears to be.

THE GARDEN is a freaky thriller with well-handled mystical aspects. Henriksen is exceptionally menacing in his infernal role, and Taylor Gordon's character is believable and never becomes annoying, unlike many such characters.

Watch for Sean Young as Sam's teacher, and Claudia Christian as his psychologist. Their roles are pivotal...
