Easy Company enter the strategically important town of Carentan.

This is a strong episode with some incredibly cinematic moments.

'Carentan' is a powerful story that we see from the point of view of a shell-shocked soldier. Outside of the passage of time associated with specific battles, it follows historical records quite closely, which is always commendable in films based on real events.

It contains some beautiful imagery, poignant moments, plus a number of brutal and intense combat sequences that have an impact. Whether or not the warfare feels realistic, only soldiers are qualified to comment, so I cannot give that opinion.

Unfortunately the error associated with the circumstances of the real life Albert Blithe's death slightly hangs over this episode. It makes me question a lot of little moments portraying him and wonder how much history has been manipulated to fit a specific narrative. You would think writers would avoid focussing an episode on someone who was unable to give a first hand account. Particularly as there were other veterans alive and willing to contribute at the time. Why not have it from a different perspective?

That being said, it is another very important chapter in the story of Easy Company and crucial to the memory of those who died and lived through such turbulent times. Hopefully, like other episodes of Band Of Brothers, 'Carentan' will inspire viewers to research the events depicted and learn more.
