Idle Hands (1999)

"Idle hands are the Devil's playground"

Teenage stoner Anton (Devon Sawa) murders his parents then his two stoner buddies when one of his hands becomes possessed by evil. His two mates come back from the dead as zombies and provide plenty of humour, though his folks stay dead. Anton severs his evil hand off but it escapes and goes on a killing rampage making this a different kind of slasher movie. Anton has Jennifer Alba as his neighbour, lucky lad! Horror comedies often fail but they got it just right here, there is plenty of gore and scares (great special effects by the way), but the horror is balanced out with the 90's humour. Good soundtrack featuring punk and metal artists, The Offspring appear as the band at a Halloween dance. The movie is set at Halloween, making it ideal October viewing. The plot at times is pretty silly and the movie is no classic but there is plenty of fun to be had. Recommended.
